    What to look for

It certainly ticks the boxes then! Re mpg I look at it this way...my MG V6 struggles to better 30mpg so I'm not actually paying that much more in fuel when I compare 23 with 30mpg! Insurance is OK £150 for 3K a year inc green lanes etc. Look up Richard Hammonds Landy Tribute on youtube YouTube -...

    What to look for

Well my series is also petrol 2.25, will hit 70 (according to speedo!!) but on a recent run down the A1 (about 120miles) following a truck most of the way it achieved 24mpg. That is with: Freewheel Hubs, overdrive, weber carb & kenlowe fan! Conversation ceases above 50mpg, handling was great...

Why did I buy a Land Rover!!!

Well check your door hinges for slack, that lets draught in, if need be check the catch on the B pillar and move it in a bit for a better seal around the door. Wrightoffroad make a heavy floor mat which is somewhat of an isulator! Carpet tiles stuck to the roof look better than they sound! (but...

    What to look for

Well I'm a novice too! I was told to look carefully at the chassis (but mine is galvanised!) and bulkhead for rust. Make sure it doesn't jump out of gear and starts without loads of blue smoke! I checked the engine was cold on mine before the vendor started it. I found mine on a road side so was...

    Preventing electrolytic corrosion...any ideas?

Thankyou gentlemen! I'm also a believer in copper grease so I'll lather my existing stainless fixings with it, maybe it will slow the seizures!!

    Preventing electrolytic corrosion...any ideas?

I'm giving my 88 a birthday and replacing rusty steel fixings with stainless as I go. I've been told that ptfe (plumbers) tape wrapped around the fixings helps prevent corrosion, alternatively I understand nylon washers are a solution...any ideas, opinions or experience folks? Thanks! Charles

I've just fitted mine with the same result...Not happy at all! My first parcel never arrived and now this one doesn't appear to work either! That said the dizzy is in a different position with regard to the pinch bolt when compared to the one that came out.

    Heated Windscreens...where from?

I'm giving my series a birthday and a heated screen seems like a good plan as we all know the demister vents have all the power of a dying asthmatics breath. Any ideas where to go for the most cost effective solution? I see Devon 4x4 quote about £158 including wiring kit.

    Series 3: Overdrive?? Your views/opinions

Does anyone know how to tidy up the hole you have to make to get the overdrive gearlever in the side of the transmission tunnel? Mine had a riveted panel covering it (which was removed to fit the O/D) It could do with a rubber grommet or similar I think but I'm open to ideas!!!
