    Heated windscreen question

Where did you source your screens from? I see devon 4x4 sell them but wondered if anyone else does. Thanks Charles

    Sandblasting and Galvanising

East Anglia Galvanising which are Peterborough direction are very good. I went to my local fabricators and they added my bits to a load they were sending to them. For £46 inc Vat they blasted and dipped: 2x steering box covers, 3 under wing bulkhead splash guards, rear light guards, tow hitch &...

    2A rotten parts!

LR series are very helpful and reasonable on price or you could try paddocks at Matlock, also on the web. :)

    2A rotten parts!

Just drill out the rivets and slide them towards the rear crossmember. It should be possible to get them out sideways where the chassis drops down.

    Series II MPG

My 2.25 did 23mpg at a steady 56 following a truck on the A1 fully loaded but that is with Freewheel Hubs, Overdrive and Webber carb but on MT tyres

A Project Im Finding Hard To Resist

What I love about the series is it so understated, it doesn't seem to attract the same ire from the anti 4x4 brigade! Maybe they feel series owners are punishing themselves enough already!!

Paint for engine and body (specs and costs)

I've got some new (paddocks) doors for my series, what would anyone recommend to keep the tin worm away? I imagine paint..more = better!

Most hp out of a 2.25 petrol

According to one US web page the cam from the 2.5 petrol will fit and give 'better top end torque with no loss at the bottom end.' Who do folk recommend for an after market exhaust?

    Series Door Bottoms

I've got some new doors (paddocks) for my series 3 and I really would like them to last, any clues on what paint to use or preservation? Thanks!

    Land Rover Virgin!

The steering relay mounted in the front cross member can also wear badly, jack the front axle clear to check for play in that!

    Opinions very welcome

Probably worth checking Paddocks prices for doors before shopping for used! If the doors are tired the hinges are probably not great either and the Defender '95 on hinges have a washer in them which stops them rusting and wearing as fast!

    Galvanised Landy Parts

Yes I think a special etch primer is required!

    Galvanised Landy Parts

I'm in the process of fitting some steps for my 6 and 9 yr old passengers! This was fine til the worn hinges catch on them so upgraded them but thought now I should repair bulkhead and that means new paint and so on until it's a full body over haul!! In the process though I came across some...

    Axle breather

I've just looked up the link to LR Series breathers 595473 AXLE BREATHER PIPE | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series...great value. Otherwise these http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f6/axle-breather-86957-2.html seem to be good and the chap is friendly and enthusiastic with it!

    Axle breather

Will the last kit be the same thread as the existing one on my 1982 series 3?

    wing protectors

I'm not really into chequer either but wing top protection seems like an idea as it always gets used as a worksurface, mug rest, etc! I'm about to get a respray and not in a big rush to get new chips in it! Any supplier recommendations from you good fellahs? I promise I shan't be sticking any...

    Engine temperature issues

On the temperature issue, my Kenlowe temp switch is rather temperamental, and I've been told that a hose switch is much more reliable. I like the x-fan unit but I've found this unit Water Temp Gauge Radiator Hose Sensor Adaptor 34mm hose on eBay (end time 01-Nov-09 22:21:24 GMT) which seems more...

Why did I buy a Land Rover!!!

I believe that it's possible to fit a defender heater in a series, although it requires some minor surgery and quite a bit of work!

    What wheels !

I've got some tired steel modulars but seems like it's cheaper to buy new than shot blast and powercoat/repaint (at £32.50 with 4x4tyres.co.uk!)

Does anyone know the part number for rear 1ton axle straps? I have parabolic springs but the straps are rather tired!
