I had a similar problem, and a former wife who was keen to point out the safety hazards. I bought a full set of inertial reels inc three point set for the middle seat. Not that expensive at around £100 (for the front seats) and not too hard to fit!

I have to say my 2.25 Petrol is not that bad on fuel, around 22-23mpg, there are a few mods like electronic ignition, overdrive, electric fan etc which help economy without loosing originality or character.

I've taken the middle road, defender heater, heated screens etc but kept the engine, gearbox, etc standard cos as has been pointed out, if I wanted a defender I should have bought one!

Sounds relatively reasonable.. a new LR unit is rather eye watering even from LR series (and their prices are good...and so is there service)

When we were lads my Dad had a 109 safari. I seem to recall there is a way of looking up when vehicles were last taxed. I think it was mentioned once in LRO mag but I can't remember which one!! Anyone else remember? Thanks!
