P38A A fool and his money.....

Whilst you still have a full tank of air, remove the self levelling relay under the passenger seat. As I understand it, just a small leak from any of the air bags will cause the self levelling to 'chase' the lost air right down to the bump stops. This happens even with IGN Off.

P38A A fool and his money.....

Craig, I feel your pain. I soon got over being semi-stranded at the roadside but the biggest sh4fting in over 40 years motoring still boils my blood! We're not allowed to name and shame here but the Chinese outfit who sold the pump are still trading on ebay albeit the P38 pump is NLA. Very...

P38A When do ball joints need changing?

These days I don't have the appetite for splitting big swivel joints like the P38 ones. My solution was to buy a half metre of 6mm vacuum pipe, cut it to the circumference of the existing boot then cut away the old rubber leaving just the spring clip on the joint. Next, cut about 25mm of...

P38A Attention dads & granddads - Advice needed.

Thanks for your help gents..... Not using the front seat is a good call - Advice taken! Still no luck fitting this seat to the back though. The geometry looks all wrong and I can't see how belts in that angle will restrain the seat. Plan is to take the seat to work with me tomorrow and...

P38A Attention dads & granddads - Advice needed.

For us, the best part of the lockdown easing is that we're spending more time with our first Granddaughter of 14 months. A new 'Joie' baby seat has been acquired for the Range Rover in anticipation of some road trips to come. It is over 35 years since we did this last time - [remember...

P38A 2.5 diesel- want one but scared!

My advice is 'go for it.' I'm starting the 6th year with mine and although there have been a few ups and downs I say that owning a P38 has been a positive experience overall. Our 2000 MY diesel is our principal vehicle and we still love the imperious driving position and the whole 'gentleman's...

What else is in YOUR garage???

Auld Duffer, I agree about the oldies being 'proper' BMWs. For my money, they lost direction after the E30. That Ti Cabby must have been a rare beast back then. The red looks good on them, mine is a Bronze colour called Ceylon. I'd have changed it for something brighter but originality rules...

    Sad News,

Stunned at this sad news. Deepest condolences to his family and friends. "Wisdom lies with those who take advice." Wammers made us all so much wiser.

ER1C, I saw an interesting documentary on C5 about John DeLorean. Interesting input from his son etc. Did I see one on Bangers & Cash too?

What else is in YOUR garage???

Thank you Steve, I have been enthralled by motor cars for as long as I can remember. We're taking our chances to enjoy them while we can.

What else is in YOUR garage???

What an eclectic range of cars! Here's my contribution.......... Sharing the driveway with the P38 we have a 2001 Rav-4 SWB. Marginally the newest car in the household. In the garage at home - 1973 BMW 2002 Targa. Bought in 1988 and a long term restoration project which has gained a...

P38A A fool and his money.....

Thanks gents, that's reassuring, in a strange sort of way. Still, the outcome has been reliable starting and a fully working EAS, although the original silly little fault has returned, insofar as when we start up she does a sort of royal curtsey to the access position and then back up to...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Even after my 6 month 'Boris Bonus' we were due an MOT last week. I have always believed in presenting the car in clean condition above and below with particular attention to brake lines and joints etc. Grease, Waxoyl, even some old oil can help to make the right impression. It's a good...

P38A A fool and his money.....

Do you remember my tribulations about non starting and EAS faults? Well here's a post script. Turned out that the blowing of fuses in the starter circuit was down to the EAS compressor being seized! Yes, the new one that I thought I was clever to have bought in an ebay 'make an offer' back at...

P38A Won't turn over on the key

Fair enough wammers. Didn't understand the significance of the change point - Well that's my excuse. Latest news is that the fault appears to be fixed. After running around for a few days with the available air in the tank, I used a repair kit on the OLD compressor and refitted it, Fuse has...

P38A Won't turn over on the key

Suspension is staying up fine with the relay removed and of course the pump not running, but it can't last forever. I still have my old (original) pump and the plan is to recon that before the weekend and then swap them over and put the relay back in. The desiccant thing sounds like a...

P38A Won't turn over on the key

Only difference seems to be that Maxi fuse position 2 is empty on my car, but fuse 40 has been wired to replace it uprated to 40A. There have been no alterations to my car and of course it has worked up to now. I found a topic on this subject going back to 2018. seems that other cars...

P38A Won't turn over on the key

Another victory for LZ team-work! Thanks for the picture RRdt The Maxi fuse you arrowed is not present on my car. However, F40 - a blade fuse in the right hand row, is rated 40amps, Noted on the lid as EAS SM........ AND it had blown. LR are kind enough to give you a spare...

P38A Won't turn over on the key

Wow, the under seat fuse box door is helpful. I am starting with your original link in which I read the 'legend' as - 30A Maxi fuse EAS and Starter relay. It describes 5 Maxi Fuses and this is no2 but on my fuse box the place shown as MF2 is empty. On your fuse box pic it is the...
