R1100 S are a nice bike! I almost bought a boxer cup one years ago. What year is the Kawasaki...’76? I had a Oh 500 Triple years ago, which heat seized the middle pot EVERY time I used it. The moors road to whitby may still have the 2 mile long skid marks off the rear tyre (unless they were from...

How much of a ****er would that be, if you spent all morning working your butt off trying to save £30 on labour, only for the thing to raise like a muffin in a hot oven and stove the roof in & knacker your garage door?!?! That would SO happen to me.

Ironic really, a Landrover is one car SHOULD fit into the garage considering the amount of times they ‘cease to proceed’ ! I’ll have to bare the weather and get outside & try it! I wouldn’t touch the asbestos roof either. Get a few local ‘Bob a job’ boy scouts to remove it whilst you are out...

Does anyone happen to know the height if the bonnet when in the open position of a discovery 4? I’ve just realised that the height of the garage door in my new build house is 1 inch too low for the height if the D4 The garage also had one of those annoying doors that take up about 2 metres of...

Help! I’ve discovered different torque settings for the idler pulleys in the 3.0d D4. Some state 26nm whilst others state 45nm! This is a massive difference! The retaining plate On the tensioner seems consistent at 26nm As do the Cam sprocket bolts 23nm. Does anyone have reliable &...

I collected my timing belt, tensioner & x2 deflector/guide bearings from Ripon Landrover today. I will replace the rear belt at a later date (I’ve heard that’s a chewy to get to) I also bought a new tow ball lock as the key had gone missing I it would be a good idea to strip the ball mechanism...

Priced up a genuine cam belt. The belt and tensioner £115 The deflection guide/pullies £49 each All plus Vat of course. So... I’ll be fitting genuine. Makes no sense skimping on something as important. I’ll just buy budget brakes & get a louder horn woola!!

I know what you mean, it’s silly running an expensive car on cheap components! Interestingly, the discs & pads that are on (fitted by an independent Landrover specialist) are less than 6 months old. They ‘look’ fine but I can feel the shakes through the wheel when I brake. I’ll let you know...

Thanks for the tips. I’ll get the Dunlop complete units. I agree, false economy just changing the shocks, why turn a an hours job into a full fight?! The d4 has reached 100k now so if there’s anything else that you guys think would be worth swapping out at this stage please let me know

Thanks for the guidance. Brembo is out then. I notice mintex discs can be obtained- that’s a name I’ve used may times over the years- they used to reasonable so might be worth a try. The air springs aren’t losing pressure but i think I’ll replace the whole unit- as you suggest those seals look a...
