Disco 2 MOT fail, front body mount

Sounds like you may have ruptured a flexi, popped Master cylinder seals or even one of the metal pipes. The brake pedal gets fairly high pressure during the MOT. If it lost that much fluid before, you can bet your bottom dollar that it will soon be lost again! I would suggest don't drive it...

    Landrover defender 1989

Interesting mileage history- 100k for years then it dropped, then back to 100k then it dropped again! Only by 1 mile though! Having rebuilt a '89 myself, I would suggest that £2500 is a fair offer, as they generaly all need £5k+ spending on them. At least there is a good chance it will be...

Disco 2 Rust Repair Quote Reasonable?

I would repair that, even though lots of Discovery 2s are being scrapped for a lot less decay. Take a look at "Croker vs Rover" or "Church House Classics" (Range Rover Classic) YouTube channels if you want some motivation! If you do go ahead, spend some time of drenching the inside of all box...

Tdi 300 - new con rods for my 1995 engine - which side is the number on the conrods ?

One million km on standard bores is impressive! A true tribute to Tdis! Was it smoking, hence the piston replacement?

The Little Discovery That Could (financially ruin me)

Sorry to hear of your plight. If it were me, I would phone the insurance company, explain the situation and ask for confirmation from the via email that I was insured, and, assuming a positive result, continue driving. ANPR database errors are not uncommon and shouldn't mean you have to stop...

    Series buying advice.

It's worth paying special attention to the ID (as with any vehicle). Check that the chassis number is present and matches the V5C and the VIN plate. Lots of swapping parts goes on with Landys- sometimes legitimate, sometimes not! I am in E Dorset, so if you need any advice about a particular...

    Oh my clutch, St Austell.

Not Barclays Bank in Church Street is it? I have (not so fond) memories of being in there being interviewed by the bank manager for a £500 loan to buy a Honda CX500! Sadly, St Austell is a shadow of its former self, but most of the money that made it a thriving town in the past was from ECLP...

Does anyone recognize these footwell insulation pads?

As an alternative, it may be worth considering the best (IMHO) all round solution to matting in a Landy..... http://www.wrightoffroad.com/r380_mat.htm Not cheap, but probably a lifelong solution. Exmoor Trim also sell similar, but for a higher price.

    Wanted 200tdi cylinder head

You probably are aware, but there are a number of eBay at present......but most probably have cracks.

    So, here it is.

...I think what I was trying to say is that I'm sure it's a great vehicle, just not so sure about the dealers......?
  11. Britcyclerider

    So, here it is.

Good luck with it. The dealers around here are really struggling with them- the general complexity and lack of skilled technicians is resulting in a lot of dissatisfied customers, stuck with loan vehicles for weeks on end. However, I'm sure many owners are very happy with their purchases and I...

    R380 Stumpy Gearbox for sale

R380 "Stumpy" short bellhousing gearbox. This gearbox is designed as a stronger bolt-on replacement for the LT77 and has a shorter bellhousing than the 300TDI and Discovery R380s. It was purchased for a now abandoned V8 project where my plan was to replace my existing LT77 with the R380...

    Somerset/Dorset Offroading

Hi Joe, If you haven't joined GLASS, worth doing so as they are likely to have a local group that regularly run the lanes. Locally we have Dorset Land Rover Club. If you haven't done them, try the Ox Drove (Shaftesbury (ish) to Salisbury) and the Shafesbury Ridgeway (just north of the Ox...

    Speaker fitting issue

Aren't speaker magnets great for collecting all those rust flakes that would end up on the floor mats every time you slam the door.....!?

    Speaker fitting issue

Nearside requires spacer to clear the wiper motor, as you have discovered. Google Defender speaker spacer and you will find what you need. From memory they are a plastic ring about 1" deep. You could make one out of MDF if pushed though.

Classic 1993 200TDi - Gear box or clutch?

Well, after a full gearbox rebuild and new clutch, my 200 TDI with LT77 suffered the same rattles until the clutch was depressed, so I think what Ashcrofts are saying is correct. Are you sure that the gear selection issue isn't related to clutch hydraulics? Despite using Delphi slave cylinders...
