Windscreen and seal replacement, top bulkhead void.

Thanks Doriz, I've fitted new door and vent seals and will look at the windscreen to bulkhead one after the new windscreen. Your advice has been not only welcome but inspirational; I'm just about to try and persuade Mrs Graham to give me a hand! I may/may not be back with her answer.........

Windscreen and seal replacement, top bulkhead void.

Stumpy, I forgot to congratulate you on your first rate fabrication and welding. I wish I could do that!

    Rear Door Fix

Hi, I had the same problem and what I did was: 1. Attack all rust with an angle grinder leaving gaps and holes in place of rust. 2. Paint affected areas from exposed clean steel with Hammerite. I gave it two coats. I then used a left over galvanised plate strap (available from builders merchants...

Windscreen and seal replacement, top bulkhead void.

Thanks Stumpy, that is a massive help and gives me confidence to have a go as well as a good view as to what I'm supposed to be doing. Like you, I think much of the problem stems from the inadequate gutter. What I've done is cut lengths of old door seal, I've replaced these with new, and slotted...

Windscreen and seal replacement, top bulkhead void.

I've succeeded in halting all outgoing leaks: clutch, radiator, steering box, rear axle pinion, transfer box and now turn to incoming. For some time there has been water in the footwell and I suspect the shot windscreen seal which, at 29 years old, owes me nothing. I have decided to have a...

    It'll only get dirty again!

    Salisbury diff flange securing nut.

I am just about to reasemble the flange to the axle, having replaced the pinion seal, and notice that the securing nut is plain and much lower in profile than it's nyloc equivalent on the transfer box who's seal I am also replacing. This is what came off so I assume it will be fine on its return...

Salisbury pinion seal and front transfer box seal

That's just just the sort of advice I wanted to hear. Once again, many thanks James.

Salisbury pinion seal and front transfer box seal

Thank you James, I'll look at making one up or asking round. Iwas going to Mark the flange and nut and count the revs. I'm going to have to give this job some thought....

Salisbury pinion seal and front transfer box seal

Like many others, I am confined to barracks on pain of death and am about to replace the transfer box front seal and the Salisbury pinion seal. Thanks to the excellent post by Trewey on the transfer box seal I don't anticipate too many problems, thank you Trewey! I would appreciate any advice...

Steering box adjustment - tight bits

I had a similar experience with mine. The adjuster bolt assembly was loosely, but securely held to the shaft. The only way I could access the interior was to wind the head of the box off the bolt's thread.

Steering box adjustment - tight bits

You will get some good guidance here, I did but only came to the site after I wrecked the hex! By that time I had dropped the pump, drilled out the hex and inserted a self tapping screw with Araldite. After replacing the o ring at the top of the pump, solving the leak that was the cause of my...

Steering box adjustment Defender 200 tdi

Thank you again James. It is about 3 1/2 turns from lock to lock . About 1 1/34 each way. Is the play acceptable?

Steering box adjustment Defender 200 tdi

Hi, I've had my Defender 110 for 23 years and only recently have had to look at the 4 bolt power steering box It was leaking from the top so I replaced the O ring having removed the unit from the vehicle. Before refitting, I made the adjustment on the bench; setting the locknut at the point...
