ZENITH CD175 TEMPERATURE COMPENSATORS HELPFUL INFO

I see. I have an NOS spare one marked with the letter ''T'' and some other ones in my parts boxes in case you may need anything. Well for me at least, the Workshop Manual is a huge help, especially with the electrics. Its got the whole wiring diagram which helps immensely !

ZENITH CD175 TEMPERATURE COMPENSATORS HELPFUL INFO

I understand ! Glad you got it sorted with only a minor issue to tackle. In case you need info from the workshop manual please let me know i can scan the pages in the relative section and send them over. Let me know about the temp compensators. Also be aware sometimes they get stuck and never...

ZENITH CD175 TEMPERATURE COMPENSATORS HELPFUL INFO

Glad you found it useful and almost eliminated the sputtering issues. Be sure to check the timing too. Some types of Rover V8s were really retarded timing - wise. Mine is an 11D prefix and the manual says it should be (with all the vacuum pipes connected) at 4 to 8 ATDC. Others are at TDC and...

Classic LIGHT SWITCH ISSUES 1982 3.5 V8 RANGIE

Sorted the damn thing ! It was the alternator by the way. Well in general the alternator related wiring and the unit itself. The thin brown wire that gets attached to the spade connector close to the B+ stud is responsible for handling the regulator. So, battery sensed in a way I think. The...

Classic 1982 Range Rover 3.5 V8 CHARGING ISSUES

I know you said that mate, I am only collecting info and possible scenarios from different people. Its not a matter of not showing trust in your words. I appreciate that you always show up first when i post a new thread. As said i am only trying to gather info. Thanks again and keep well !

Classic 1982 Range Rover 3.5 V8 CHARGING ISSUES

Hey there mate ! Good morning ! I wanted to ask you since you have been faced with a faulty regulator that won't regulate voltage and allow excessive voltage to pass through. Would it be possible in such an instance that the wiring would melt ? Any possible part of it i mean. Just gathering...

Classic LIGHT SWITCH ISSUES 1982 3.5 V8 RANGIE

Removed the tape and although the Red wire had some heat marks here and there it didn't have and melted parts to be honest. What in the name is this sort of short circuit ? Could it be a faulty regulator on the new alternator ? Its an NOS unit damn me.

Classic LIGHT SWITCH ISSUES 1982 3.5 V8 RANGIE

Removed the intermediate / rear harness and from what i can see the middle section of it is not burned. I will remove the tape to look more carefully but it doesn't look as if the red wire inside has melted. The parts the of the red wire that melted were on the rear LH taillight and also a...

Classic LIGHT SWITCH ISSUES 1982 3.5 V8 RANGIE

Photo of the bulb holder. The Green / Purple wire has broken off of its base. Is that under any way a possible cause ? Its also corroded heavily. Rechecked the other side and its fine. Also checked the plate illumination wiring and its also fine.

Classic LIGHT SWITCH ISSUES 1982 3.5 V8 RANGIE

Hey there, Thanks very much for clearing up the alternator topic and the explanation. That's great advice ! Correct, if its melted along its length then the short must be at the opposite end. Thanks a million ! Would you think a faulty taillight socket could be my issue ? I find it strange...

Classic LIGHT SWITCH ISSUES 1982 3.5 V8 RANGIE

Also the rear fog light switch had the Red / Yellow wire break off of it. I don't think that's related though.

Classic LIGHT SWITCH ISSUES 1982 3.5 V8 RANGIE

Bearing in mind that there is no fuse / relay on the headlight switch, where would a ''switch short circuit'' be found if indeed the switch short circuited ? Could it be in any way related to the new alternator ? The voltage meter was in the normal range all the time and the multimeter...

Classic LIGHT SWITCH ISSUES 1982 3.5 V8 RANGIE

Here we go again ! So, after replacing the old alternator (55amp) with a new factory spec unit (65amp) as well as the voltage stabilizer on the instrument cluster i went for a drive. It was the evening so i switched the headlights on. After about 5 minutes, smoke started coming out from under...

Classic Rover Diff Pinion Seal Depth and Flange Issues

Sorry for my late reply ! Yep Corteco do produce some good quality seals and not expensive as well ! There must be a groove or something similar on the flange that i am not aware of that must be causing the seals to slowly fail. Gonna replace it for good measure. Also checked the rear diff...

Classic Rover Diff Pinion Seal Depth and Flange Issues

Hey, Thanks for the quick response ! I know, i was only wondering whether mixing seals and mud-shields would be possible. The parts I wish to mix, i don't think would interfere with each other but I am not sure enough hehe. Anyway, its gonna come apart again and inspect what the hell is wrong...

Classic Rover Diff Pinion Seal Depth and Flange Issues

Hey there, I know this sort of topic has been discussed possibly a thousand times but i couldn't exactly find what i am looking for, so here we go. Replaced the pinion seal on the front Rover diff on the Rangie. An 82 model. The seal I fitted is the one the parts catalogue says will do and...

Classic 1982 Range Rover 3.5 V8 CHARGING ISSUES

I know its bloody old. That's why they left it (the thin brown wire) disconnected when the then new unit replaced the original Lucas one.

Classic 1982 Range Rover 3.5 V8 CHARGING ISSUES

Sooo, Figured what the extra wire that had been left disconnected is. Its the battery sensing one. The early A133 Lucas alternators were battery sensed ones. The newer ones from what i can understand are machine sensed. The brown thin one would normally connect to an ''S'' marked connection on...
