That's a great step-by-step! Will follow if I end up going down this route! All new hoses you mean? I'd love to do this, because look at the state of mine, but not sure I want to replace all those hoses and go through all of the steps of bleeding, etc.

Did you replace all the fluid in the reservoir, or also all the hoses and steering itself? Easier to turn? Edit: I'm having a similar issue with my Discovery 2. Is your power steering pump clean? And did you have any residue in the reservoir like me? See my post for more photos but here's one:
