I think the 10% gets dragged in from vehicle construction regs, which allow speedos to over-read by up to 10%. Never allowed to under read. So, if your speedo shows 70, in fact you might be doing 63..... So some feel that means you could have speedo showing 77 and in fact only doing...

Modern particulate traps need good hot decent run routinely to assist (though in theory the most modern ones will self clean reliably .....sort of....). Defender ain’t that sophisticated - I’m sure a good hot blast cleans the pipes a bit, but wouldn’t get too fussy about throttle control and...

Looks v promising, but get a proper inspection of the chassis by someone who knows or a recommended/well reviewed engineer before parting with cash. My TD5 has done 240000 (with 2 cylinder heads ;-) ) and runs like new ....sort of..... Service history and everything they all said above, and...

From memory about £28000, but that was brand new in 1999...... ;-)

I was leant a mega mega puller designed for the job, with 1m extension bar (would hate to think what torque it was pulling), plus the 'clout both side of the taper' worked fine in the end........ Swearing helps a lot naturally..... Enjoy, A
