Need some of that! I use TOTAL gear oil 85W 90 as it's the closest I can get here in Kenya.

I thought so. No worries then. I've decided to go full hog on the parts and therefore get what is available from synchro gearboxes. At £850 for nearly everything needed it is just bliss! £1,000 in parts for a total rebuild isn't bad. Try doing this with a modern car!! I think the wires alone...

But gaiter/cover will not fit over it. It's an eye sore to me and ****es me off so much that I had to do something about it. With the box rebuild I'll replace the existing gear stick housing and pin.

Hmm...1974 series III with a late 2A box! I also recon the same. My 2A's box is also apart (I found it dismantled) so will check on any subtle differences. I know the 2A was purchased brand new by dad so it's pretty much as was factory. Is it possible to make 1/2 gears to synch as is with...

Anything is possible especially in Africa. There seems to be a need to always go for the shortest, quickest, easiest method of fixing things rather than doing it properly. There is no excuse because parts are available and if not immediately then in a few weeks. If I could get another box with...

Hello Steve. This is from my 1974 series 3 which was ex - British army then ex - Kenya army. I have good reason to believe so but it could just be ex - Kenya army from new. Anyway, I took apart the gear box because all gears were jamming in place in particular second and third. I need help with...

Land Rover Series III Suffix WHAT!?

Hello.... I have a Series III (1974) and because it was formerly a British Army Land Rover and then passed on to the Kenya Army I have no idea what Suffix gearbox it has despite the numbers on it. I need to replace a few worn out gearbox items and would appreciate any help possible. I also...
