    Freelander 2 (LR2) Gear selector

Hi All , any ideas as to manual gear lever starting to stick , when going down through the gears . All good going up etc . Mainly going from 5 down to 4 . Lever feels like would stay in the middle of 5 to 6 gap in the gate if that makes sense . Coming out of 5 by pushing the lever forward then...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Many thanks

Hi guys , apologies to all but I put my latest update out on conversation !! As you know I have had the steering fault and gone down the road if changing the cheaper parts first . After having a new pump ( I got for £85 ) it made no difference apart from the £120 to have it done . The garage...

    Heavy Steering

Hi Rich , going off the garage it’s a case of dropping the subframe and swapping the rack . They can get a reconditioned rack for around £210.00 ( not sure what the Canadian dollar is to the £ ) around $ 400 . Total bill when done around £425 . At least I did go the cheapest parts first , New...

Hi Rich , quick update on the pump change over yesterday. No change !!! It is the rack that’s on its way out . Gutted springs to mind , even the mechanics thought it was the pump . Thanks for all your input much appreciated.

    Heavy Steering

Hi Rich Many thanks for the reply , will let you know next week as I have to concede that I could not get the old pump off due to a bolt ( the last one ) undone as it is right at the back end and the wheel where the belt sits in is in the way. I have booked it in to local garage to have the...

    Heavy Steering

Hi all , update on heavy steering problem. I changed the auxiliary belt and tensioner & water pump yesterday . This was after deciding what to do and then waiting for parts . To be honest not 100% confident this has resolved the problem . On backing out of garage it felt pretty much the same ...

Maybe it’s time to take it to local garage ( not Land Rover ) get them to check it out . The belt is definitely worn and has frays showing and it was not as taut as I imagined it should be . Thanks

    Heavy Steering

Yep I did that when changing the filter and fluid . Turning the street side to side was easy and it’s a way of getting the air out of the system . When the wheels are on the floor engine running turning to the left is ok going to the right is when you feel it get heavy . But normal driving is...
