    Defender/Discovery 300tdi Engine differences?

Hey guys, I have got myself a 300tdi from a defender to replace my old 2.5td as part of a rebuild. I see a lot of information on this conversion but it mainly deals with 300tdis from discoveries. I am planning to mount the R380 onto the LT77 mounts and weld new engine mounts, from what I...

    which fricking dash bulbs...

I have LEDs in my 1989 dash. They are T10s(I think they are the wrong size, they seemed to be too long). The difference to the old bulbs is amazing.

Swivel Pre load - What am I doing wrong?

Hi all, in my effort to track down a horrible vibration coming from the front and through the steering , and veering all over the road at 50mph, I have moved onto swivel pin preload. I have done nearly everything else (new bushes all round, ball joints, UJs, new steering box, tracking) as part...

Brakes not right! Spongy when engine running

Are the rears drum brakes? I had a similar sounding issue with mine (also after a brake overhaul). Bled and bled them but pedal would change between being firm and spongy. My local garage fixed it in the end, he said the springs in the drum were setup incorrectly and changed the brake master...

    Light bar wiring ?

The best thing to do is use a relay and fuse. A switch is also a good idea. Take a feed off the main beam wire into a relay(pin 86/85), Battery positive to a fuse into the relay(pin 30). Using twin core wire take the red wire into relay (pin 87) and black wire into the last relay pin and bat...

    A frame bracket bolt size

Pretty sure they are M10. I broke a few of mine as well so used some M10 x 70mm as replacements. I think the old bolts were 45 and 55mm long, part numbers FC110116 and BX110091L

    Rear Trailing Arm

I recently just changed all my old bushes to poly(with thanks to busters guides). My trailing arm bush was also swelled like the picture. I used a socket and mole grips to undo the bolts. I couldn't fit the mole grips on the top nut, so hammered the socket on and put the grips on the bolt head...

Terrible grinding/Vibration after changing diff pinion seal

Hi guys, my 90 defender has developed a really bad grinding/vibration after changing the rear pinion oil seal. I am hoping you guys can give me some ideas of what it could be before I take it to my garage. Here is what I know: Grinding happens on overrun and is very bad going down hill. Uphill...
