    The brass is a great idea, don't know why i didn't think of it before, gonna see if I can get 1 wide enough to cap the hole, the fibreglass is a good back up if all else fails. Thanks for the ideas.

    Hi all, the drain plug on my 109 s3 large rear fuel tank was leaking, so thought i'd replace the washer & bolt, was going fine until the bolt housing came away from the tank. I made a small plate to go inside & out bolted thru, but instant gaskets cant cope being submerged in diesel for long...

    Hi all, my uncle's helping me to repair my series 3 109, we just went to replace front d/side outrigger, the bottom of the door pillar just came away in my uncle's hand ( tube is rusted away 5 inches up ), ordered a new 1, but unlike the p/side we don't have any of the outrigger or door pillar...

    Yep, we've had to replace all the outriggers & rear crossmember, a lot of welding & swearing,. Gonna get full exhaust from paddocks, cheaper & easier than replacing in parts, brake & suspension kits make things easier as well.

    Thanks all, spent hours looking thru google trying to find an answer, should have just come on here. yep, had a Customised ( Bodged with scaffold pole + other bits ) exhaust. Finding plenty more bodges the deeper I dig. Can anyone recommend a good garage near Spalding for Landy's ?

On the outrigger with two rectangle locating plates for the tub, there's a U shaped bracket (about 4 inches long ) underneath secured with a bolt & rubber washer, there was only one on the passenger side ( driver's side outrigger had rotted away...

    Hi all, I've just started restoring my ex military 109, rear crossmember's completely rotten so ordering new, the one fitted is standard 109 ( tapered ends ) rather than the military spec ( square ends ). In your opinions, is it better to return it to original spec or replace like for like ...

    Just had confirmation from the DVLA, because the v5 say's manufactured 1979, evidence must have been provided when registered in 1991, so historic vehicle registration shouldn't be a problem. Thanks again for the info supplied in this thread.

    The gov site doesn't include some info ( on ex mod/ diesel to petrol/gas conversion for historic ) & heard stories of people have a hard time registering for historic vehicles. THANKS V8BOB, that's great info, it's plate is H*****T.
