Think the tank photo/picture with pipes labelled would be really useful for lots of newbies to series land rovers, if anyone can help, would certainly be appreciated.

Got a series 3 109 2.5 diesel that only had about 3 feet of bodged/welded/rusted off pipe from manifold down, got new exhaust system but unsure which way it's routed, seen various routes on google images, seems to show going through gap above transfer box mount on some, but no room to thread...

I found this worked, If you tack a few bits of angle iron along the top of the chassis with the welder before you cut off the rear crossmember, weld small blocks to angle iron to fill the gap between it & the crossmember, it ensures the new 1 will go on in the same place. (take loads of...

thanks for the ideas, tried the Ali brazing rods, my blow torch didn't get hot enough, tried lead solder with plenty of flux ( don't know if this will last), put some water in to check, all seemed fine, it sealed the tank connector, half filled tank with water, now leaking somewhere else...

nope, socket is 36 to fit nut inside, hole is considerably smaller, any ideas ? a mate has some Ali brazing rods instead of gasket, gonna give them a go but never used before.

Tried a long tap wrench but not long enough, can't fit socket thru the hole, here's a few photos

Tried the tank connector, cut a diesel resistant gasket to correct shape, but can't tighten connector nuts enough to stop it leaking as can't get a socket big enough through fuel sender hole, was worth a try tho. Guess i'm gonna have to buy a new tank (£190 :eek: )

Yep, JB weld original's great stuff, used it for brackets & thin bodywork reinforcement, only problem is it ain't fuel resistant, started to degrade after a few years where it was exposed to diesel on my old genny fuel pipe connector.

Just trying to get it road worthy, safe & reliable at the moment, upgrades to brakes, suspension, lights, engine will hopefully come as I can afford it in the future.

yep, worked on cars before but only coil springs, had always changed in pairs but am unsure about leaves. car's not on the road at the moment, my uncle's helping me to get it road worthy & historic vehicle registered, it's an old break in spring, well rusted :(
