    Belated 'New Member'

I've been a member of this forum for a few months and have never filled this out. I bought my first Land Rover in the Spring of this year. It is a 2002 Discovery 2. I'm currently in Yorkshire but relocating to Caithness and the vehicle has already done three trips. Apart from the immobiliser...

    Topping up Power Steering Fluid

This has been discussed already on this forum, and I've spent a while reading the previous posts. But I'd like to ask again about potentially mixing Power Steering fluids (PSF), as the information is not clear: I bought my D2 about six months ago and the PSF level was at the minimum mark on the...

    Loosing Coolant

Thanks again for all the help. I've taken the car on a good run today and everything has held tight.

    Loosing Coolant

Thanks. That's reassuring. Do you know whether that small section of hose in my image 2 has a part number, or name? It is about 50mm long and ca. 5mm I/D. I've looked in the parts pamphlet that someone kindly gave me and have searched the internet for the hoses listed, but none seem to fit its...

    Loosing Coolant

Thanks for all the advice. Having replace the large top hose clip (in picture 1), I've now had to replace the clamp on the smaller hose that comes out of the top of the radiator (in picture 2) since coolant was spluttering out of this when the engine got to temperature. It could be a coincidence...

    Help please! Sunken rear end.

Can someone please give me a bit of detail about how the ride height sensors work? I have had a garage replace and calibrate them. I want to buy a trailer, and my tow ball (while the vehicle is unladen) appears to be quite high. Its midpoint is 480mm, so higher than the EU Directive...

    Towball height

This is not really a Land Rover question, but I thought that someone here would know. I bought my Discovery 2 to tow a caravan. Caravan is now moved, and I'd like to buy a flat-bed trailer. This was my first time towing a caravan and I have never bought a trailer. The car's tow bar is not height...

    Loosing Coolant

Thanks, Someone on here sent me a link to the Rave manual. I uploaded a zipped folder. When I unzipped the folder most of the files on pdf were not recognized by my computer and it would not open them.

    Loosing Coolant

Thanks to all. I got the coolant reservoir out, no trouble (thought that 'swan neck' U-bend hose underneath underneath had me thinking that it was connected). I have two questions: 1. If the hose feels soft, particularly under high temperature, is it a good idea to replace it? 2. While I had my...

    Loosing Coolant

Excellent, thank you all! 'Kermitrr': the hose was in good condition and there was no rust. What I called 'decayed gasket' was brown and fibrous mat about 1-2mm thick. Odd, I thought. I'll have a go at raising the coolant reservoir and bleeding the system. Andrew

    Loosing Coolant

Now, I made some progress with this before reading the last two posts, and this is interesting. I found that there was a leak from where the top hose is clipped on to the engine head (as per my image 1). I took the hose off here without draining any coolant (so quite a lot came out), and I...

    Loosing Coolant

Thanks for the prompt replies and the information. That brown clip? I've no idea what it is for, but yes it does look to be a possible culprit.

    Loosing Coolant

Can someone help me please with a bit of advice? I noticed recently that my Discovery 2, TD5, has lost some coolant: about 100mL over about 60 miles since I did my last weekly checks. I've had the car about eight months and it has always been fine, having done ca. 4000 miles including six long...

    Running Board and Parts

On the subject of running boards and mud flaps (probably shouldn't have mixed two questions in one post): I've seen a few Discovery 2's driving around without running boards and they appear to have mud flaps fixed about ca. 1ft back from the front wheel. As previously mentioned, my mud flaps...

    Roof Bars or Rack

I'm still struggling to find the roof bars that I'd like. Thule seem to do them but they are only two and these affix to the inbuilt rails. I wanted something that would extend down the full length of the roof. If someone knows where I could get these from then I'd be grateful. I wonder, is it...

    Running Board and Parts

Well I'm new to, what is a whole new and bizarre world of Land Rover parts. When I have bought parts previously for my Fiat from Eurocarparts it has been very simple and the parts are good quality (usually European made). This whole landscape with Land Rover, the different parts, not being able...

    Running Board and Parts

Thanks for all the advice. In terms of 'parts suppliers', no-one mentioned JGS4x4, and I wish that I had listened to the recommendations. I just ordered two ride height sensors from JGS4x4 which were described as a quality part. They were missing both the two bolts needed to fix the main block...

    Spare Wheel Cover Stickers

Thanks Brian, That is what I thought: maybe it is better to have a new wheel cover made. Can you recall the name of the company?

    Spare Wheel Cover Stickers

My wife wants to advertise her business on the back of our Discovery 2's spare wheel cover. She's looked at different companies who sell stickers for months and has been hesitating over whether they are any good. I am also a bit sceptical about whether the stickers will adhere properly. I...

    Help please! Sunken rear end.

Thanks. I understand what you are telling me. The cable ties and wire are just a temporary measure. I wanted to know whether I could replace them myself (without having any equipment to calibrate them) or whether I should drive it to a garage. The ride height is now perfect. As I have thought...
