:/ for one i don't think the welder was set up properly 2 it looks like gas hasn't even been used on some welds, and 3 it i don't think he even used the right power setting for most of the welding!

haha I'd probably get done by the council for 'fly tipping' knowing my luck!

hmmm even if i don't get my money back hopefully I'll have warned some people off who may have considered him for welding work and may even save them injury in the event of having an accident in there vehicle, the thing is had i have asked him to put the wings back on and not been trying to help...

He mugged me for £950 thanks to my darling mother :) yes indeed! as an MOT tester said if i had a head on collision in that the front end would have fallen to bits.

indeed!! lets hope the small claims court take my side in this matter, a written report from one garage and one interdependent mechanic should help matters! also the fact he has not bothered to respond to my letter by phone text or email says a lot about his character.

Hi all I am doing a 100" conversion on my disco looking for a defender bulkhead I am based Hampshire but am happy to travel to pick this item up 2/3 hours driving time each way so probably down to Devon across to Wales etc. Please let me know if anyone has something :)

because at the time work picked up, I thought rather the hassle trying to weld in new floor pans inner wings etc etc I'd pay him to do it as he was supposed to be a 'professional' will be the last time i pay someone to weld for me again.

I have help at hand regarding fabricating! I can weld as well and I have a 100" conversion onsite where I am doing mine to copy! :) should be starting this month :)

yeah exactly I'm not building a monster truck I just want a reasonable looking 100" defender :)

you got a good deal! :) I'm looking at buying either something with a rotten chassis that someone wants gone or just keeping a careful eye out on ebay and doing autojumbles! obviously a 109" 3 series cheap would be an ideal option!

Thank you very much! :) it has just gone over to my friends storage yard so work should be starting this month! first job being lifting the body selling as much as i can for spares and then purchasing bulkhead rear tub etc etc. I will try and keep posting as many photos as I can :) no doubt...

looking at LRO magazine appears as long as I keep the chasiss stamp I can still keep the original reg number - might be able to apply for change of make and model on the log book? someone I know has said he thinks you may be able to just change logbook to 'landrover' and thats it. and...

doing CAB at the moment, will do trading standards asap..

Shame I did not know about you when I was looking for a welder! at the time I was happy with the price being under the impression the vehicle would come back with no welding work needed at all for the next year or two. Looks like I was wrong. Oh well! lets hope this goes through small...
