Engine tapping after rebuild?! Slipped liner?

Must be a pain to listen to all this stuff, we are all trying to give good advice. Hope you can get to a solution. Some of us have rebuilt these engines many times so we should be able to help. Keep faith. ps: timing chain if you decide to put in a new cam and new lifters (plenty of cam lube)...

Engine tapping after rebuild?! Slipped liner?

Skimmed heads (how much?) tappet pre-load? Agree, it was a bad move not to have put in a new camshaft and new lifters. Did you also fit a new (tight) timming chain?

    Drag Link Question...

As Grit Valve says, should have the bracket. Just a tip - when you get a complete drag link make sure that the adjuster is free before fitting and don't drive without it being tightened up. Lots of threads on how to centre your steering wheel and align with the marks on the steering box. Could...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Just back from a week in Scotland, Kyle of Lochalsh area. Car was brilliant with no issues. We even did Applecross (as advised by Druim) with five up and plus a bag of coal and two bags of logs and some luggage, for the fire pit that night (not the luggage!) - the treacherous road, Bealach na Ba...

    Posh diesel!

Have no experience of p38 diesels. But on the 90s etc there was a water drain on the fuel filter, check your handbook to see how to check this if available on a p38? I would be interested as I have had a p38 diesel in with a similar problem??? The garage maybe dispensing some water but it could...

    2.5 D Rear Propshaft

Wow - you are lucky it didn't end in a bad crash (supose it was!) - must have been a bit of a shock though and I hope you are over it. And a shame as the car has been behaving for a while. I was pushing (I hope you don't mind) because u/js don't normally just go! I have posted some U/Tube stuff...

    Got a problem on 98 p38 4.0he

If you have a dipstick (later cars don't have one) then the engine needs to be running. Car in neutral and then check it. You should have an Owners Manual in the glove box which explains how to do many things.

Common climate problems just unsure symptoms

Talking of about £150 for all three blend motors. Then labour £500 for that seems a lot. Look at this (there are lots of guides on how to do it) spend a weekend enjoying yourself and save a fortune...

    2.5 D Rear Propshaft

Advice on fitting, get Emmotts to do it and the sump but just noticed you are near Edinburgh. Fitting is easy if you have a ramp, so you need access to one. There is a special tool available to tighten up the bolts as there is not much room but can be done. If buying second hand grease them...
