Probably tre sap that has hardened and dried. A tar remover product or a dab of petrol should remove them. Had same on mine parked under large trees for 3 years..

It's official, its my diff. Query. If diff fails, what risk of damage to other components are there. Hum is curable by turning up radio..think driving her till it fails or gets unbearable, unless there is a risk of damaging something else.
