    new vcu still tight??

I'd only gone five hundred yards after having them fitted when my problems started couldn't wait to get them off. Along with the vibration I would have sworn I had a wheel bearing gone as well but all it was was the tyres.

    new vcu still tight??

Yes quite possible. I'm sure Bell use the GKN bearings so can't see it being those. Have you tried it with the rear prop off (sorry if you have said this before I've not gone through the thread) You know I might be totally wrong but I'm betting on the tyres from personal experience.

    new vcu still tight??

It's possible as all four wheels are competing for grip now with the rear prop fitted but don't know. Have you got a friend with a freelander that you could swap the wheels around just to see if there's a difference ???

    new vcu still tight??

Sorry never heard of these tyres. It's a well known fact that there are only a certain number of tyres that will match a Freelander I found this out a few years ago when I replaced two of mine. I think they were Uniroyal or something like that. What a mistake to try and save a few quid, I had...

    new vcu still tight??

Did you change the bearings when you replaced the VCU. I've had two occasions when I had a bad vibration in the past. The first was when I put cheap tyres on the back, it made a lot of road noise and vibrated. the second time was when I had a bearing on the prop shaft on the way out. Changed the...

    Folding mirror problem

I've never know any of mine to come back to life after a rest when they've gone they've gone. I have tried repairing them as in the post above but to no avail. Sadly I've spent enough money on power fold replacements and now I'm on manual fold in/out at a fraction of the cost.

    Folding mirror problem

Having replaced both my folding mirrors twice with the same problems I have now fitted the manual fold in/out mirrors. The adjustment of the mirror still works from inside on the control knob. Having spent around £500 in the past on replacement power fold units I purchased the last mirror from...

    TD4 Aux. Belt change ?

Yep on my 06 TD4, I found it easy to follow. Can't see why he had a problem there's only one way they can go on.

Freelander TD4 57k:miles is it worth getting....

I've got an 06 TD4 with 65,000 on the clock and service it once a year. The last service at 60,000 miles I changed the engine oil, gearbox oil, IRD oil, and diff oil, changed the air filter and changed the auxiliary belts. all this is relatively easy to do if you have basic DIY skills and a pit...

Going to be looking at my 1st freelander

Personally I wouldn't touch a 1.8 petrol with a barge pole. Surly there must be a nice TD4 around which will serve you better in the long run.

whats the most anyone has paid for tyres on their freelander?

Around £500 for my four Pirelli Scorpion STR's.

Have I been driving 2wd for too long????

No no no inner ring what ever you do don't hit the outer ring.

Have I been driving 2wd for too long????

Mike, the big socket has got to be the correct size to avoid any damage to the bearing. The socked goes against the smallest ring and gently tapped on.
