    Homebuilt Centre Cubby Box

Hi LandyJD, do you have any pictures of how you edged the vinyl between the vertical and horizontal surfaces? I'm halfway through building something similar myself, because a standard one won't fit where I need it, following my auto conversion. I've built the box and I've got the vinyl, I'm...

    Discovery 1 V8 Spider bypass

Afternoon all, hope you're enjoying the sun and not feeling too locked down! It's almost two years since I first posted this thread (unbelievable, where the flip has that gone!!) but I'm pleased to report that I now have a running, driveable, and MOTd 3.9i V8 Auto Defender! There were a lot of...

    LT230 electrical connectors

Hi all, I'm posting this in the Disco forum as the 'box in question originally came out of a D1 V8 auto but is now in my Defender. On the transfer box there are two electrical connectors (well, three if you count the difflock light switch, but it's these two I need to know about!). In this...

    Discovery 1 V8 Spider bypass

Hi Luke, the discovery was a '96, 3.9i with the 14CUX setup. Yes , I've kept all the engine sensors. Basically I have all of the engine loom, plus there is also a short loom on the gearbox with a square plug, it's worth cutting that off in the engine bay as you'll need some of those cables too...

    Discovery 1 V8 Spider bypass

It's a long slow process! I don't get a lot of time to spend on it, so it's small steps when I can.... Just noticed you're in Kent - me too. ME19.

    Discovery 1 V8 Spider bypass

Latest update. Progress remains slow, life gets in the way, but.....I now have a Defender which moves under it's own 3.9i steam. Only been along to road and back but it's another milestone met. Received all the parts to fabricate the exhaust today so that's the next part of the project. I'm...

    Engine change and V5

Hi all, I'm in the process of putting a 3.9i V8 into my 1986 90 , which was previously running a 3.5 V8 and recorded as such on the V5. DVLA are being difficult about changing the engine details on the V5 and have given me 3 options: - Provide a receipt from a garage confirming the engine...

    Discovery 1 V8 Spider bypass

Hi Discool and all. I said I'd keep in touch - well, the V8i into Defender project stalled for a while but I'm back on it now and I'm pleased (well dead chuffed actually!) to say that I now have a running 3.9i V8 in my Defender! Still a lot to do but I had it running this week. I haven't...

    Discovery 1 V8 Spider bypass

Hi Discool (and all!). Just reporting back as I said I would. I'm pleased to update that.....drum roll..... we have a running 3.9 V8  As above, I have everything lying loose in the engine bay, so effectively the engine is standalone from the rest of the car (except for the fuel pump)...

    Discovery 1 V8 Spider bypass

Thanks discool. It might be another week before I get time to rig this up but I'll post back here after!

    Discovery 1 V8 Spider bypass

Hi discool, sorry I haven't responded sooner to this. Started a new job and have had to stand away from toys and projects for a while. I've done a little bit more work and pulled through into the engine bay the ECU & relays, with the intention of (as per my original post) of making sure I can...

    Discovery 1 V8 Spider bypass

Thanks, that looks fairly easy to follow, I'll have a look at that. I still want to make sure I have everything I need from the Disco before I part with the remains.

    Discovery 1 V8 Spider bypass

Ah, I recognise that reply! ;) I did try to respond elsewhere but apparently all my posts are moderated and it takes about 24 hours for each of my posts to be displayed. Anyway, back on topic - my plan was to remove most of the front loom from the Disco and get it working in the Defender and...

    Discovery 1 V8 Spider bypass

Hi all, I've been reading the many threads all over the place on the infamous Spider and the problems it can cause. I have a '96 V8 Disco 1 which is sadly suffering from the advanced stages of tin cancer, but my plan is for it's heart to live on in a Defender. The Disco has a fully-working...

Can anyone identify this adapter plate?

Thanks guys. To clarify, I have a 90 fitted with the 3.5 V8 and the LT95 box out of an RRC. I bought another LT95 box (the duff one) and that came complete with bell housing but also this adapter plate. The duff box also came out of an RRC but that vehicle was fitted with a different engine...

Can anyone identify this adapter plate?

I recently bought a replacement LT95 gearbox, which after fighting it into place turned out to be 150-odd kg of scrap metal  It arrived fitted with an adapter plate for a different engine (mine sits behind a 3.5 V8). The seller originally said to me that he wasn't sure whether I needed...

    LT95 Bearing Reference/Part Numbers

Anyone have a part number or a bearing reference for the big ball roller bearing on the input shaft of the LT95 'box please? (Not the little needle roller inside the box). Having trouble finding it and there are no numbers stamped on the bearing itself. Thanks.

    LT95 woes - diagrams/manuals needed

The original box was whiney when you let the clutch out, it was a fairly high-pitched whine which seemed to come from the bellhousing area, hence my "diagnosis" of the input shaft bearing. The replacement box does quieten down in 4th so I guess that one has knackered layshaft bearings (amongst...

    LT95 woes - diagrams/manuals needed

Further to a thread I posted a while back, I finally got the replacement LT95 fitted to my 90. This was supposed to have delivered me an overdrive, higher ratios, and a quieter box. Disaster. The "new" box is a complete bag of nails. It's noisy beyond belief (scares small children as you...
