    Annoying squeaking while driving.

I know that :D I guess that would need to be in a neutral gear too? Thanks

Double scotch? It is not even lunchtime, and what if I prefer bourbon? Double chock? So with in neutral, one front wheel on an axle stand and then move it to one rear? Transfer box? Cheers

    Annoying squeaking while driving.

Yep noted. Thanks. They look relatively simple to assess for wear. Searching around online I found a Youtube Video where the guy's P38 has an almost identical squeak to mine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0pQ4A1wWAA So with that in mind I think I will change the diff oil in...

    Annoying squeaking while driving.

Thanks guys I will check them over tomorrow. Happy to slip an axle stand under the chassis while there. I just left the tailgate open earlier today and was quick about it, hence missing a nipple or two. Was unsure how to check the UJs but will research a bit more. Cheers

    Annoying squeaking while driving.

So I guess the best plan of action is inspect the UJs, pump as much grease into them and the end of the props as I can. I think I only found 4 nipples and Datatek says there are 6 on a P38. I will check and pack them with grease then see if the noise/vibration really has gone. If not, then I...

    Annoying squeaking while driving.

Wheel bearings sound like a nightmare. Island 4x4 site says "This item requires professional fitting (Not for DIY!!)" To be honest I just fitted new front bearings to my other car, that was a pig of a job even with a heat torch and proper bearing / race driving tools. UJs sounds worrying too.

No sorry noise does not go when I press the brakes, it is still there.

    Annoying squeaking while driving.

UJs and/or bearings..... Would the vibration disappear as you speed up? I am not getting the usual wheel bearing wobble wobble wobble noise you normally tend to get with bearings. Would UJs cause a squeak that also disappears as you speed up? How about coming off the accelerator and the...

    Annoying squeaking while driving.

Hi All Can somebody help me get rid of the most annoying squeak I have heard on this lovely vehicle. It started suddenly and is related to forward and reverse, not related to engine speed, but is very much related to road speed. From about 5mph to to 20 it is very loud. Quietens down...

    Caliper guide pin seized

Right well front brakes all done. New discs and pads, plus a caliper carrier. Now the bloody rear brakes need to be done. At least I have found a seized caliper pin up front so I can order everything in 1 hit. I hope.

    Caliper guide pin seized

Yep I have decided this morning to buy a new one. This one is well and truly in there and refuses to come out. It has soaked in penetrating oil overnight. I have tried vice/mole grips, stilsons, heat and a combination of all........ Should I got for Britpart or TRW?

    Caliper guide pin seized

Changing discs and pads at the front end. First side goes simply, no real issues, great I thought. Other side is a PITA! Most issues of seized components resolved now except I have a single caliper guide pin seized really well and truly. I have tried knocking it out, soaking in...

    Air suspension woes

Agreed, there are so many that are not properly fixed and devalued by coils and manual pump up kits. The cost of fixing it properly is (in the long term) cheap in comparison to any other option.

    Brake fluid change

just checked the brakes out, man what a difference. Firm and quiet (no hissing from the pedal or ABS whirring away every other press on the pedal. It is looking like the Delphi discs and EBC pads now, best of both worlds.

    Brake fluid change

Will bear Delphi in mind then during my search. I had listed them as an option previously but then lost focus because of the groovy drilled ones. Now I am feet firmly back on the ground with more sensible hat on.....:D

    Brake fluid change

Looking at the opinions on cross drilled and grooved discs I am going to steer clear of them. Especially when you read EBC's article on their web site regarding them. Pretty scary. You may be about to get them cheap but no thanks.... I am sticking to EBC all around, discs and pads.

    Brake fluid change

Discs not scored, pads not scored. Not even noticeable ridges over the wear area. Fine and smooth. I was guessing on the pad thickness left at a glance with poor light, could be 5mm or more. The rim of the disc has an approx 1mm overhang either side. I guess this is scoring, but it is...
