    Lighter accelerator pedal

I certainly hope my mechanic fitted it correctly.

    Lighter accelerator pedal

I've been over everything, and .most of it is brand new, fitted when I swapped the engine.

    Lighter accelerator pedal

I don't often go off road in fact I have not done it in this truck yet. It's a Disco 200tdi.

    Lighter accelerator pedal

As part of my mods to make my Defender bad ones friendly, the first which I'm currently looking at being Auto conversion, another thing I'm looking at is the accelerator pedal. Is there any way of making the accelerator pedal lighter? My brake pedal seems to be fine. 89 Ninety with Disco 200tdi.

    Heavy clutch in Ninety

I'm considering, if I can find one, buying a Disco 300tdi auto, and pull the engine and box out and drop that in.

    Heavy clutch in Ninety

I'm going to give it a try, ong with a power spring, and maybe a servo.

    Heavy clutch in Ninety

No I'm joking, it's well geased up. But it is the old type clutch pedal.

    Heavy clutch in Ninety

Yeah it's just the standard long squeaky spring.

    Heavy clutch in Ninety

Not sure I could justify a V8, as much as I would love one. Need those few extra mpg's from the diesel.

    Heavy clutch in Ninety

Yeah probably go for the easy option.

    Heavy clutch in Ninety

I'm tempted to try and find a Disco 1 300tdi auto, rip the engine and gearbox out and chuck that in, with the NAS centre console.

    Heavy clutch in Ninety

I'm looking at the Ashcroft conversion. It looks really nice, it uses the NAS console. Issue is, its £2500. Which I suppose is cheaper than buying a good condition auto Disco 2, and definately cheaper than an auto Defender.

    Heavy clutch in Ninety

It is completely standard. I wasn't aware there were any upgrade return springs avaliable for the lt77.

    Heavy clutch in Ninety

My knees are getting worse. I'm getting huge amounts of pain in my left knee while operating the clutch. I know there is the clutch servo jobbies that make the clutch easier to operate, but just how much easier is it? It's on an 89 Ninety with a Disco 200tdi on an lt77 box. I may have to...

    TD5 cruising speed noise/dissapointment

You can add sound proofing. Closed cell foam under the bonnet and on the bulkhead if you can get to it. Closed cell foam on the inside of tbe bulkhead and floor, and a Wright off road rubber matting system. Does your TD5 have the black sound deadening? The only other thing you can do is a Disco...

    The new defender!

I'd have a Jimny today if I could, but I reckon I'll wait for the used market to open up.

    The new defender!

Look at the Suzuki Jimny. It's basically a small Defender. Suzuki took full advantage of the end of the classic Defender.

    The new defender!

Yeah bringing out a new 4x4 is fine, but don't pretend it's a Defender. However, as a new vehicle, like the MINI and Fiat 500, it will probably do well. But unlike the MINI and 500, the new Defender looks nothing like the classic Defender, regardless what people say, it's just an uglier Discovery.

    The new defender!

The military won't buy a replacement for the Defender. For operational vehicles, they need them to be armoured particularly from land mines. For moving around the UK training areas, they are hiring "white fleet vehicles" mini buses, Hilux's from companies like Interserve (that was the company...

    The new defender!

JLR/Tata, have specifically stated that their target audience is not your stereo typical "working" person. I know they are bringing out a commercial, but even that will be too technical for too much rough dirty work. I can't see one on a building site, or in the woods with the Forestry...
