There must be a number on it somewhere, where I don't know. Maybe a date stamp too. The gearboxes are both pg1 boxes which have many uses in different vehicles. They just have different gear ratios. Don't forget a Freelander engine is the same that is out on many other rovers but just a ird...

I always thought the irds and diffs were the same for L series and k series pre 2003. The ird ratios changed in 2003 to stop the expensive breakages. I think the post 2003 diffs had different bearings in aswell Not 100% sure as I am going on memory with little sleep and after a couple of beers...

I assume so otherwise the ird would need to be different because the back wheels would be going a different speed than the front.

Maybe I said that wrong. I ment any driver of the vehicle must be able to provide a digi card. I did get told this last time I spoke to vosa but to be fair he did have his head quite far up his arse.....

I was always under the impression that if you have a digi tacho fitted all drivers must be able to produce a card whether it's used for towing or not. But only need to put it in when towing for business use.
