What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Fitted a better oil catcher than breather pipe dripping on road to the 19J. Replaced the air filter, that was black with ingested oil. Stuck the mudflaps back on. Pulled apart the dash/fuse/instrument panel mess trying to figure out why the indicators don't work from the indicator stalk...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Place you go to laugh at townies who can't drive on snow. Or filled up on lowland diesel and had their engines freeze. I can ski faster than I can drive on many of those slopes....

What have you done to your Landie today.

Chugged down to the ski station, played for a few hours, then picked up a ton of stuff from the builder's merchants. Came back up an icy 10% slope with not a single slip... Noticed a tyre was a bit flat, tried to move the nuts with the 12" bar..no chance Tried with the 24" bar...no chance...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Sunday... Adjusted my clutch pedal. Whoever ran the brake pipes across the top of the clutch pedalbox wants a ding round the lughole with a bg spanner, but the amount of time I spent on it meant two different neighbours stopped me and asked if I was available for work, and seemed impressed...

Replacing a fuse box- any advice?

I intend to pull out my old cartridge style fuse box ( 1986), and replace with a modern one to try and get rid of the intermittent electrical faults. Any advice?

What have you done to your Landie today.

Went full on yokel. We've had a week of too hot to be out in the sun, so loads of plants have stuck on fresh, tender growth...and we have -10C forecast overnight ( at a mile up, thin air cools down fast) So chugged out to the stubble fields to get some insulation- i.e rake up some straw the...

Why isn't my speedo cable long enough?

Got the bugger in! Agreed, it is a right pain in the neck. If you have a cable puller for running electrics, it is a great help..and something I wish I'd though of earlier.

Why isn't my speedo cable long enough?

I'd done the instrument panel connection first, and left the transfer case side free. If it is a well known pain, that is reassuring! I'll have another, careful look at the routing, and will try it without distracting dogs this time....

Why isn't my speedo cable long enough?

I have a 1986 LHD 90, and I can't find a long enough speedo cable. I just got a new set from paddocks, and and the upper an lower half together are a good foot short of reaching the transfer case. Currently, I have an extension bodged on using an offcut of the old one and a terminal...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Bodged the speedo cable. I have an upper that actually fits the instrument panel, but doesn't reach all the way to the takeoff on the gearbox. I had a old one that reached, but would only stay on the odometer with cable ties. So I cut the old one, and stuck it on the end of the new one with a...

What have you done to your Landie today.

After a mixture of Champagne and 2016 St Emelion Bordeaux, I felt up to attacking the drop link. 4 grinding disks and a great deal of hammering later, the bugger came off in a few pieces. The new one dropped on in two minutes. Then the snow started again before I could do the wheel alignment...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Yesterday: Found out the little plastic shims on the door hinges do actually matter- and sections of old inner tube make good replacements. Removed the high quality fence wire holding the exhaust in in place, and fit proper bolts so the MOT guy is happy Swapped out the shiny new lights that...

When was the 6 bolt steering box introduced?

At that price, if the bugger won't move, I'll take it to the local 4x4 specialist who'll be able to do it in no time...

When was the 6 bolt steering box introduced?

The mood my wife is in, I'll do both arm and joint to be sure the test centre will pass it. Turns out it's 6 bolt one. Aren't engine bay gymnastics fun!

When was the 6 bolt steering box introduced?

Thanks. 200 euros is a bit steep when paddocks will do a drop arm for 20 quid though....

When was the 6 bolt steering box introduced?

My 1896 LHD 90 just went through French MOT equivilent, and they flagged up wear on the steering drop arm. Is there any way to identify if it is a 3,4 or 6 bolt PAS box without getting underneath it? I'd rather order the right part straight off, and given the ice and snow outside, I'm try to...

    19J oil pan alternatives

That sounds like it'll be fun to fix.... consult the book of Haynes. I'll go with the oil drain to chassis for now, and deal with the head gasket later. Solve one problem at a time....

    19J oil pan alternatives

I suspect there is a leak or two somewhere, but I need to pressure wash it to find it. The breather cap popped off at one point, making finding any leak that bit harder...

    19J oil pan alternatives

It's the older type, and it currently drains to a jar wedged behind a headlight- unless the tube has jumped out again... I've got a cyclonic separator ready to fit, along with a new air filter- the previous one was black with ingested oil...and a runaway engine isn't fun, so I though I best...
