so... was the later p10 head the same as the p15. Or was there another version of the p15 head later...

Ok... so any benefit to the metal dowels? From my understanding the p15 had a different head to solve the porosity issue and they fitted the metal dowels? And that some later p10s had the same.... but it apparently some p15 had plastic dowels... which would suggest several different head...

    P10 engine history

Edit: I know the p15 was partly developed for emissions, what's the opinion on the p10... is there much to chose between them p10 & p15 other than the obvious issues. Also what are key jobs to do on the p10?

I see... I thought they had swapped to metal dowels on the p15! I read on here that later p10 were fitted with the later heads to solve some of the issues... is there any way to identify that? Definitely have my work cut out, but looking forward to the project... and was thinking of doing a bit...

Hi all, I’ve just join the Land Rover club after searching for many years to find the “right” one! So I have a project... a 51 plate 90 td5 and foresee many questions as the project unfolds. It’s definitely rough and ready and I am planning a bit and bolt re build and re chassis. One initial...

    Body work corrosion - Help

Thanks for the advice, defiantly want to make sure it’s right. Overall, if she is in good condition aground, with original chassis etc, do you all think she’s worth putting time and effort into?

    Body work corrosion - Help

Discodevon made a good suggestion about spray from wheels, and potential acidic conditions. I’m going to check the underside again and make sure it’s sound, but I would have expected a note in a mot somewhere about corrosion, even just to cover their back. Also has full service history - 50k...

    Body work corrosion - Help

Thanks everyone, I aware how some farm landys are treaded, seen a 14 plate on the local farm that was ruined! It does look pretty tidy for a “work horse” defiantly compared to some we have looked at. And at least there is nothing being hidden. I’m more than happy to put some time into it to get...

    Body work corrosion - Help

Thanks everyone for the replies, the chassis, looks pretty good couldn't see any welds or signs of patching. Bulkhead and doors all look solid, no bubbling or rust and it definitely didn't look like anyone had tried to cover anything up or tidied up for sale... looked pretty honest. It went...

Hi everyone, we are completely new to the world of land rovers and are looking to buy a defender TD5 for our small farm. We have found one we are interested in, but wanted to ask advise about the body work - photos attached. Is this a relatively simple respray due to aluminium oxidisation or...

Thank you for the welcome! Just wanted to check we were buying a major problem. we want to keep her as original as possible, and overall we think the chassis looks pretty sound, she is low mileage at 60k - 16yrs old, and according to MOT history never had a advisory...
