How to reach the power steering hose L322

I have found that every time I need to work on mine it is always easier to just remove everything in the way. Pretty sure that involves draining the coolant 99% of the time. No L322 has had coolant over a year old. Ever! :) Replace the alternator? Drop the coolant. (I guess you did too)...

    L322 tdv8 3.6 Engine Failure.

The engine gradually slowing down could be inertia caused by the car moving, it may have stopped firing already but the gearbox would have forced it to turn over for a short time I expect. They don't really decouple a coast on the 6 speed trans. Stick a socket on the crank pulley and see if...

    L322 Lower glovebox won't open

I seem to recall the lower glovebox comes out to reveal the screws holding the upper one, if one should fail, it would definitely be this one wouldn't it? :)

    L322 Lower glovebox won't open

I have a small issue that could easily turn into a bigger one if I don't do anything about it soon. My lower glovebox won't open. It used to be sporadic but now it's not playing the game at all. The upper one opens just fine but the switch doesn't illuminate any longer, that could be a clue...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Changed a split EGR pipe on our most recent 'financial mistake'. My brother and I bought a 2010 L320 RRS with a "Restricted Performance" fault. Owner was selling cheap and fully disclosed the issue so we thought "How hard can it be?" ;) Previous owner was quoted about £60 for the part and...

    L322 Black smoke on kickdown

I did think about that after my post as I recall you had similar values. It won't take much to get a correlation error. I had this on mine: P023D-22 State Intermittent Manifold absolute pressure - turbocharger/ supercharger boost sensor A correlation It's worth noting that "Sensor A"...

    L322 Black smoke on kickdown

Possibly. If you've got smoke before combustion then you have a route to follow to the cause. Not certain but I think they have separate intercoolers so it should isolate the issue to one side or the other if it that's the cause. It's another free test that you can do. Had a little search...

    L322 Black smoke on kickdown

Just had another thought on this, can you get someone to tell you if it’s smoking on one side more than the other. An unpopular issue could be a failing/failed turbo. If it’s letting by and burning oil that would give you excessive smoke and a boost mismatch error. You could try pulling the...

    L322 Black smoke on kickdown

Agreed but if the split only opens under boost then from my experience there won't be enough of a gap to get the brake cleaner through it to have any noticeable effect on a V8 with the volume of air being pulled through an unrestricted manifold. You'll need positive pressure to open it not...

    L322 Black smoke on kickdown

I doubt that will help you as your issue is more likely air escaping rather than being drawn in. If you spray brake cleaner on a petrol engine the revs will in crease if it has a vacuum leak but that's a really high powered detonation for a diesel, it's not good for any engine (prolonged use)...

    L322 Black smoke on kickdown

Blanking them won't get rid of a fault though. It will stop the gas going into the inlet but if the EGR is showing as out of range or faulty in whatever way, that will remain. The only way you can get rid of that is to code them out but even then it will still show a fault if scanned but it...

    L322 Black smoke on kickdown

Spray some bubbles on it and you'll soon find your leak if you have one. Boost hoses split too, I think I had a small leak on mine before it fully let go but when it did it was under the anti abrasion sleeving so it wasn't obvious and I drove it 9 hours through France manual shifting to keep...

    L322 Black smoke on kickdown

It's not my car, they took off a boost hose and plugged it up, you can see it by just getting someone to rev the car. Mine had a big soot stain on the underside of the engine cover which was the giveaway on my car

    L322 Black smoke on kickdown

I found mine was like this and fixed it with Q-bond. My wife's Discovery 4 has just done the same thing but that manifold split across the top and it's a flimsy flat piece so I'm currently in the process of replacing it. It's a PITA job on the SDV6!

Loss of coolant - 2008 Range Rover

If you drive back to him and park it on his desk it will get his attention! As a rule, I don't like dealers but I will say there are a few good ones out there. I bought a Mercedes ML a couple of years ago from a dealer, looked at it in their workshop on a Sunday morning where it had been put...

Loss of coolant - 2008 Range Rover

Aluminium coolant pipes running down the N/S inner wing is where mine went, didn't dribble much and it spread in about 4 directions making it hard to trace but they are a known leak point. With the rain we're currently having it will be hard to tell if it's dripping on the floor anyway! The...

L322 Rattling from hood on uneven roads and intermittent 'Air Susp. Inactive'

NEVER go back to that garage, not even for a tyre! I've had my fair share of air suspension experience of late and I can say with some confidence now that it's not that complex but you have to understand that a lot of conditions need to be met for it to work and it interfaces with many...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

On Saturday I used mine to drive from Maidstone to Newark where we collected an RRS for my brother (which is of course broken) but that's all good as the seller disclosed it all before we went. Spent Saturday night with a Topix subscription and PDF'd everything for the wife's Discovery 4 in...
