What did you do with your Range Rover today

6x T20 screws from underneath. * Pop out the side trims (upwards) remove 1x T20 on each side * Open centre console and remove 2x T25 then lift out the storage box disconnecting the 12v and MMI this will give you access to 2x T20. * Remove the small plastic trim below the clock to gain...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I cleaned the gear selector dial which is something that I'd been meaning to do since I got it but of course it only appears when the car is running. While I was doing that, it occurred to me that I hadn't removed the cup holders since I bought it (focussing on the repairs first). Removed the...

I can imagine the conversations about fuel economy with you: Stuu: Yeah, I don't really care about the economy of it, I like it. Them: Suppose it doesn't matter if you drive it gently or don't go far? Stuu: "Hold my fuel pump nozzle while I hang 3.5t on the back of this thing!"

P38 in need of some love

I was going to show off after pwood999's comment and say it was further for me but I got shot down here before I even got going :) Good work sir, *approval nod. Always loved the P38, never owned one though... Must. Not. Enquire!

A selection of Mercedes gear selectors? Sorry Jon, couldn't resist that one

This is the list from Gap. I think I better check the options on mine that works properly against the ones that don't.

What was the fix? I actually reversed my 2011 with a trailer connected last night and realised that the PDC didn't detect it and howl at me which was really nice but I'm sureI've got the CCF configured the same in my 2009 and my friend's D4 but they never disable the sensors. Especially...

    2016 TDV6 Crankshaft Snapped

It's so hard to tell from a video as you can't gauge where the noise is coming from but it could be a big end bearing, or cam follower, split inlet/exhaust manifold (although it does sound more like heavy interference), broken valve... so many potentials here. One thing you can be sure of...

    2016 TDV6 Crankshaft Snapped

The pulleys are known for going on these. I follow a firm on FB called MDRS automotive and they often post about these things detonating after cam belt changes but often it seems to be the pulleys snapping as Lynall suggests. Get someone in the know to have a look and DO NOT TRY TO START IT in...

There's only some very light staining on the bottle so it's going to be really hard to know if it is an issue/was the issue/is now resolved. I'll keep an eye on it of course and if it needs a cooler then it's not a bad job to do at all. The first time is the voyage of discovery and the second...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Today I attacked the oil cooler. It’s been leaking oil down the back of the block since before I bought it and I knew about it prior to purchase but as it started to drip on the drive it had to be done. I got some BS611 o-rings for he turbo feed as LR told me they aren’t available any longer...

I changed the auxiliary belt. It took pretty much all day! I still can't get over how much had to come out to get to it. Tensioner was cream crackered and what a joy the stretch belt is to install (not too bad actually but I don't love it) Had to sit and consider my life choices at one point.

What codes are you getting? That will tell you what it perceives to be the issue. "Suspension Fault" on the dash could be a hundred things.

Another reason I got so frustrated with them sadly. I always like to support local businesses but if they make it hard to do business, people will give up.

Ok, now seeing it in situ, I was wrong. The top one in your picture appears to be the exhaust as it is connected to the solenoid valve. What do you mean by "Suspension shutting off"? I get that you're frustrated with this but you really need to be clear on what is happening and what the...

Unlike my car where the compressor is inside, yours is under the car so the silencer is different. The piece in your hand (if I'm correct) has a plastic pipe going into it? Owing to the fact that your compressor could easily get submerged if you were a bit splash happy or wading too deep it...

Well, it's different to mine as your one lives outside the car it doesn't need to be as quiet. I assume you didn't buy a new compressor? If that piece flows air nicely then it should be fine and I expect your other one is too. Start with the basics. Take that part out of the currently...

Ah, the good old C1A13-64, a familiar friend of a code to me. I've learned a lot about that one. Most likely to be either the drier unit in the compressor or the noise suppressor from my experience. You say you've changed the compressor but was a new/refurb unit and did you change the...
