    Speedometer repair

There are plenty of videos on you tube. I followed one an MG owner had posted. Stripped mine completely, removed all the muck that had collected around front seals etc and repainted bezels. Managed to recalibrate it so it now looks ok and reads pretty much spot on

    Jaguar straight six onto LT77?

Rover 3.9 had 182 bhp and 230lb/ft. E type 4.2 had 261bhp and 283. I agree that V8 would be easier to fit but the engines as you say are chalk and cheese. If you have the skill set and access to a nice 4.2. GO FOR IT. Years ago I helped install a Jag into a Reliant Scimitar, the result...

    Jaguar straight six onto LT77?

never seen it but think a 4.2 with triple carbs would be superb. I often thought about a Jeep 4.0 litre straight six, there was a good posting in here somewhere about jeep transplant. i love the 4.0 pushrod lump. Easiest straight six would obviously be BMW

    CSI distributor

I found a second hand CSI one from an MGB on EBay. It has a choice of 16 advance curves pre-programmed. I selected the best one for a standard 2 1/4 after fitting Lucas gold coil and new trick ht leads, it now runs so sweetly and revs much better.

    De cat and mot issues

custom exhaust downpipe with a small vortex silencer will go on my td5 when the one fitted gives up. You could always put several turns of exhaust bandage round the new de-cat pipe where the cat would be;)
