Brake Pedal gradually going to floor

Hi Nodge, if it was air in the system, I would expect to be able to pump the pedal up and then have a 'springy' feeling. If I pump up the pedal and then hold it, it sinks. Yesterday I did use it and it was 'ok' and I did cycle the abs by hard braking in some quiet spots. I have nothing to lose...

Brake Pedal gradually going to floor

Hi all, I have been having brake issues, I think a result of a period of standing while sorting out an auto gearbox issue (Thanks Hippo). The brake pedal slowly sinks to the floor, if held. I found a leaking rear wheel cylinder so replace both cylinders and the rear shoes. The pedal was still...

    Alternator Question

Hi Andy, so I removed the 2 wire plug and it makes no difference. I could have the fun of removing the 'main lead' but that happens when I take battery connector off. I will just live with it for the moment, as long as I use it daily it doesn't go flat. Other more pressing issue on it at the...

    Alternator Question

Thanks. I have checked and AC clutch appears to be working ok. I have been thinking about this a bit more and nothing else but the alternator would still have power with the ignition off (in that area). I used a hose as stethoscope to listen to parts and pretty sure its the alternator now.

    Alternator Question

Ok an update on this- after disconnecting the battery and charging it, on reconnection the noise had gone. However after going for a short run, it has returned when the car is ignition off. Continues all the time. I am getting 14.4 volts so it s charging ok. Its definitely in the area of the...

    Alternator Question

Thanks Jedi. Not the fuel pump, as this is ignition off/key out noise from the front right of the car. Re the automatic, I am doing ohm checks etc at the moment. Thanks for taking time to reply.

    Alternator Question

Hi Nodge, thanks for reply. Sorry what is the FBH? A little update on this, is I tried charging my battery, but turns out my charger is cream crackered so just bought a new one. What I did notice when I reconnected the battery, is the noise has gone (it was drivers side front 99% sure it was...

    Alternator Question

Thanks AndyFreeLandy. I am afraid I was not clear enough. The noise is when the engine is turned off and ignition off and car locked/unlocked Its not an noise in use.

    Alternator Question

Hi, I suspect my alternator has a fault. I can hear a 'hum/buzzing' which appears to be the alternator. (2004 TD4 Automatic) Has anyone had this or know of the issue. My battery is going flat over a few days, so I suspect it is the issue but at circa £120 I would like to get some confidence it...

    Egr Blanking Mod

So removed my EGR today to fit a 'bypass' and its been replaced previously with a standard one, so it wasnt too bad. However, when I removed the inlet manifold as it was quite mucky, the round ports were about half their original diameter. I have been oven cleaning for about an hour with bottle...

Please ignore - found answer in forums: New Ignition Key and FOB programming

Sorry all, found the answer elsewhere in the forums and trying to delete this. Hi, my FL1 has only one key and fob. Do I need to get one from LR as I assume the key has some chip to match ignition. New fobs need programming I guess? Are either a DIY Job? Thanks

    Egr Blanking Mod

FL1 - Interesting thread. If I understand correctly the EGR valve opens by vacuum? If that is the case wouldn't just blocking the vacuum feed stop the egr valve opening and effectively remained closed?

My first Land Rover just bought. Freelander 1 TD4 2004

Hi, thought I would introduce myself to the forum. I have just retired and after 48 years of driving, approx 60 cars, now own my first LR and 4x4!! I have a lot of car experience and knowledge in mechanical, bodywork and electrics so while undaunted by most jobs, I'm not as enthusiastic as I...
