Hi, Yeah I see your point. The only difference being in this case is that it isn't a Land Rover warranty. I brought the car from I third party garage and they have instructed m to take it to my nearest LR dealership. The garage literally rang LR with their credit card and paid the first bill.

Ok thanks. I am gunna give LR the list of all these suggestions. The smoke clears once properly warmed up although it still smells bit. Sorry but not sure what the scanner is you mentioned but LR did say they plugged it into a computer and it didn't show any fault.

Sounds like a good lead! The oil was supposedly changed before I brought it. But it is very black! The LR dealership said that is normal as oil in defenders goes black almost straight away! I wasn't so convinced. Will mention your thoughts to them but it doesn't go back until the 2nd of Jan now!!

Exhaust is very black and sooted up. If you see the video I posted on this thread it is like that most of the time. Smokes loads to start with but the more you rev the more it clears and then seems to smoke as much as it is at the end of the video for the rest of the time. Eventually after 10-15...

It is also a bit lumpy on first start up and doesn't always start on the button as a car of this age should.

Smoke stinks of burning oil or possibly diesel. It smokes really bad in the morning and then it gets better throughout the day but if you leave it for a few hours it gets bad again. The smoking can reduce to bearly nothing if driven a lot. People have commented on the smell as I have driven...

Guys , a week on and the smoking seems to be back to where it was. I expect a bit of smoke on cold start from a diesel engine but this can't be right. It bellows out the back on start up. Anymore ideas???

Turns out it was pressure relief valve, fuel vapour valve and a leaking vacuum pump gasket. All fixed now

    Puma Smoking and oil leak.

Hi guys, Well the LR dealership have diagnosed it as the egr valve and a leaky vacuum pump seal. Can anyone out there with knowledge tell me if either may have caused a knocking noise from the engine? They have ordered the parts and are fitting them this week. They said it may have caused the...
