Freelander 1 Freelander 1 Major Electrical Problems : Urgent help needed Please

Looks like the purple wires go to fuse F14 to. I'd waterboard F14 till it starts working. Although it must be if stuff works when you power it. So it must be (or possibly not!) FL4 that is caput. Or the wiring from it. That, boys and girls, is why you should never practice waterboarding.

Freelander 1 Freelander 1 Major Electrical Problems : Urgent help needed Please

The ODB socket takes power from fuse F14 in the fuse box which is fed from Fusible Link 4 under the bonnet and from there the battery. FL4 just powers the fusebox, nothing else, is there any power in the fuse box? If not FL4 is your culprit.

Freelander 1 Freelander 1 Major Electrical Problems : Urgent help needed Please

What is the purpose of the purple wire? From what you say, one end connects to the CCU, where does the other end go?

    2013 Freelander 2 Motor swap from 2008

You essentially have a 2013 bodyshell (after you have removed everything) in which to install all the bits you can take off your 2008 car. Even then, I bet there would be mountings that are different.

Freelander 1 Cold starting issues - What I've done so far

I'm not even sure that what ever you do with the accelerator pedal has any effect on starting. I was under the impression that the ECU will use a predetermine amount of fuel before the engine fires in to life and will ignore the accelerator.

Freelander 1 VCU off for car how to test

If it was OK before, I'm sure it will be OK after sitting idle. "New" ones have probably been sitting idle in crates for a very long time. I'd bung it on the car and do the 1WUT. You'll need to do it a number of times to spread the goo around to get a reliable reading, it will probably start...

    Rear wheel bearings or diff

Looks OK to me. Should say I have no idea what it should look like, just looks OK to me. I'm going by the IRD pinion which I think that would be OK on, so long as there was no lateral movement.

    Freelander 1 Preserving the scarce ! FL1

There's already loads of stickies on the main Freelander forum. Could be transferred to the Technical Archive, then you'd only have to bump it once a decade to keep it on the first page! Easy to find then.

Noises from behind when full steering

You will get a lot of (damaging) wind up and the VCU will deteriorate very quickly if you have mismatched tyres or you loose air in a tyre and drive on it.

Noises from behind when full steering

Have you done 1 one wheel up test on the reconditioned VCU? Are all your tyres the same make and version and (tested to be) pumped to the same pressure? Have you examined the IRD for wear? eg drained the oil and checked that the bearings are not mashed and suspended in it. Always loosen the...

Yeh, they'll nick and/or destroy anything. One ripped open the spare tyre cover on the back of my Freelander 1 day. They'll nick tea towel or clothes hanging up to dry at huts, or the shoe laces out of boots. They love it, can't help themselves. Usually soft stuff, but not always...

Our Keas (alpine Parrots) are cheaky chappies. On Saturday I drove up to Arthurs Pass to meet a campervan that needed some parts replaced on the heater. So took Mrs & Miss Grumpy and the mutt along for the ride up into the mountains. While I sorted the camper, they walked into the village for...

    Restricted performance and EGR block

TBH, I'd have thought that if there was a leak in a fuel hose that was large enough to drop fuel pressure - you wouldn't have needed a garage to tell you that, you'd have seen it for yourself under the car. The hose may have been weeping and needed replacing, but not the reason for the car...

    Restricted performance and EGR block

If the car thinks there's a problem, you need diagnostic kit plugged in to read the error codes. It will tell you why there is an error message on your dash. Then you fix it! Hopefully its something simple. I imagine if the garage say the message has come back, they are not doing diagnostic...
