    Engine number - 25L?

Hi, '97 Defender 110 300tdi - I tried to find the engine number and think I found it but it starts with 25L (or maybe 2SL) but it doesn't seem to match any of the codes I've seen on the web. Does that number make sense? - Andrew

    Wave Etiquette

I noticed other landy's waving at me or flashing, so I've been returning the favour. I can't help the feeling that I've unknowingly joined a cult though...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Picked up a used roof tent for a decent price, figured out how to latch it on until I could get it home and do the job right... a couple extra holes needed in the roof rack. Went to a nearby parking lot and jacked the 110 for the first time to check which bearing needs work, front left one it...

    Odd noise at high speed

Picked up a bottle jack and a couple stands yesterday so I could take a look... the front left bearings are definitely the problem. The back right also had a small amount of play... how much is too much? I thought a little bit of play was normal. The other wheels were pretty solid...

    Useless locks

Hi, I've been reading here and saw many references to opening the doors with a coin, etc... but only tried it myself the other day the first time and dammit... it works. It seems every single key on my key-ring opens that dammed door. On my drivers side door anyway. I asked somebody else...

    ebay roof tent

It's in pretty decent shape, "lightly used" I would say. The only real issue is a small tear in the cover, which I figure can be patched. Picked it up for 600 euros and I'm feeling pretty happy about it. We could only get two of the mounting bolts into my roof rack, but I can fix that with a...

    Odd noise at high speed

Ah, OK... got it. Since I just bought it I still have another car... will keep it off the freeways until I've figures out how bad it is. Thanks for the tip! - Andrew

Should I? I think I'm missing something here... - Andrew

    Odd noise at high speed

I'm now wondering if it could be from a bad bearing? I recently found out that the form the previous owner gave me from the last inspection says (in plain dutch, so I didn't know) that at least one of the wheel bearings has to be fixed. And yeah... I think 125 km/h is about the fastest this...

    ebay roof tent

Great! Thanks for the info. They say it's three years old and only used once a week for family holidays... no idea how it was stored. Not sure if I'll offer them 700 euros up front though, we'll see. If I can get it for 500... - Andrew

    Odd noise at high speed

Hi, I'm new to Land Rover's and have noticed something, and I'm trying to decide if I need to be worried or not. When I'm travelling at highway speeds, in the 100-120km/hr range, there is a very lound vibration/humming kind of sound with a period of around 1 hz. Is this a normal kind of...

What do you think would be a good price for a 3 year lightly used old Eezi Awn Series 3? Am taking a look on Saturday and am wondering what to offer. They're asking 700 euros. - Andrew

    ebay roof tent

No idea where they're made, but decided to wait until I can check all the types out at a landy show... leaning towards an Eezi-Awn at the moment, and they even have a reseller in Belgium so that helps! - Andrew

    ebay roof tent

I was looking at that same auction for the Oasis... think I might want a canvas tent for my year in Africa though. Also, since I live in Belgium it'll be a pain to go pick up. Sigh. - Andrew

    Hello from Belgium

Hi There! I'm a Canadian living in Belgium for the past few years, and just bought my first Land Rover (1997 Defender 110) for likely too much money. I'm getting ready for a year long trek through Africa in 2012 so this site is going to be a great help to me, especially Buster's photo repair...
