    Viscous fan not coming off

Hi all, I have a 300tdi 110, and after reading the many past threads here, I still cannot get my bloody fan off. I have the wrench to grip the nut, and I know I'm trying to undo it in the correct direction (standing in front of the car facing the engine, moving the wrench clockwise, the top...

    VIN Numbers!

HA701009, etc, should be a part of the VIN. Do a google search on the land rover VIN codes, compare your VIN to this one and it should be obvious. - Andrew

    Where to buy....

Hi all, Living in Belgium, I'm having a hard time sourcing some things locally. On Friday morning I will be driving from Dover to pick up an ebay'd Engels fridge on in London (Abbey Wood) then continuing up to Hull for around 6-7pm. I was hoping I could stop in to 1-2 places and pick up the...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Need to catch up here... in the last week I changed the steering damper (amazing difference to steering) and replaced the front left wheel bearing. Going off now to bleed the brakes and top up the oil levels on the axels, diffs, gearbox, and transfer box. - Andrew

    Africa 2012

I'm planning a similar trip... roughly 12 months starting around Nov 2011. Don't have a route planned yet, still learning how to fix/drive the landy! If you're interesting in heading off together, drop me a line... either way it would be good to share info. - Andrew

briercliffe off road on 23rd may

I might be coming, as I'll be in York for the Bush Mechanics workshop on the 22nd and want to get in some off road experience... I've been asking people around here and it sounds like there really aren't any in Belgium. I've never done any off-roading before, but want/need experience. Would...

A little confused about caliper removal

Exactly. After 30ml or so of oil came out when I was loosening those bolts I tightened it up again and went back to read the manuals (and this site) to figure out what I had done wrong. This time around I left those bolts in and clamped/disconnected/plugged the brake line, which means I'll...

A little confused about caliper removal

Maybe I was unclear... I undid the bolts on the top of the caliper and the oil was coming out around the swivel bearing... on the inside of the wheel. - Andrew

A little confused about caliper removal

I'll check both levels... something I've wanted to get to anyway. I got the hub assembly off in the garage this afternoon, seemed to go well... the 12 sided socket worked wonders. Tomorrow will bring it home and start the disassembly and cleaning in a nicer environment. I'm feeling pretty...

A little confused about caliper removal

I've done it on other cars, but a long time ago... in my defence the bolts were kind of hidden so I didn't see them, if I had I would have recognized them as the right ones. We all start somewhere, right? I'm pretty confident that I'll know if I botched it up or not (with help from these...

Really? Whew.... was wondering how to figure that out. It's odd that I can't find the serial # though... will have to take another look. Thanks! - Andrew

    Next stupid question....

The only identification on the gearbox that I could find was "hrc2641 bsk2". Google searches are not illuminating, only showing that some other people also have the same number on their gearboxes too. - Andrew

A little confused about caliper removal

Hi, I was trying to replace a front wheel bearing today, and got stuck embarassingly soon. I couldn't figure out which bolts I had to remove to get the damn things off! My guess was the top two bolts where the brake line is secured, the same ones buster is showing in the fourth picture...
