    24v fuel gauge?

WP out of curiosity was your original fuel gauge missing, broken or was it reading full when the tank was only half full but correctly reading empty when the tank was empty? I had this problem & eventually found the cause.

110 Wolf, replacement rear shock absorbers.

Thanks for coming back, I needed to get replacements sorted soonish. I've ordered RPD500990 from Blanchards as that is in the latest parts list. I see in an early parts list quoted as STC3087. When I got mine off & rubbed with a wire brush I read Rover ANR3538 made in Spain, but can find very...

110 Wolf, replacement rear shock absorbers.

So how did you get on? Were the dampers uprated when Wolf was uprated to carry Bowman radios or was it just the springs that were changed? I can find nothing in the AESP mods & instructions that refer to this upgrade. Will RPD500990 be long enough for Bowman rated upgrades?

    Military number plates

I agree I don't think I have seen white characters on a registration plate other painted on an armoured vehicle or white stick-on characters where the original pressed aluminium plate has been wrecked.

    1987 12v GS 90 Fuse Box/fuse sizing

Yes I have doubts that even in service the users were aware of those two notifications. My 90 never had the Dymo label & I have never seen one on any 90/110. Always as well to have as many fuses as you can, it helps localise a fault more easily. My Lightweight had only 4 fuses, but my Dutch...

    1987 12v GS 90 Fuse Box/fuse sizing

Correct. The guidance on those fuse rating equivalents appeared in the service maintenance comic/magazine KiT! submitted by a S/Sgt in April 1995. On a formal basis there was a change dated March 1997 AESP 2320-D-122-821 General Instruction No.84 that the 10A fuse for stop & indicators should...

    1987 12v GS 90 Fuse Box/fuse sizing

There was a lot of confusion caused in the 90/110 by the label rating of the fuses. The current marked on the label refers to the holding current rating of the fuse not the current at which that the fuse will blow. The holding current is appx half that of the blow current. Many vehicles ended...

24v replacement batteries Wolf 90 anyone?

Help Please. 24v warning light on and other stuff?

Mark, brown-yellow is the feed from the ignition circuit for each alternator that is fed independently through their respective ignition warning lights. It supplies voltage to the field winding to create a magnetic field before the alternator is revolving & then producing the magnetic field for...

Help Please. 24v warning light on and other stuff?

Yes all TUL(HS) & TUM(HS) whether GS or FFR are 24v. The instrument panel & front part of the loom is the same, so although GS it had provision for upgrading to FFR role. I have a charge warning light for the radio alternator built in. The off side was modified for the breather tube for radio...

Help Please. 24v warning light on and other stuff?

Mark yes one alternator should be sufficient as that's all you get with a GS. Mine was a GS 110 used by the RAF for airfield defence stripped down in a poor man's WMIK. It had radio batteries in the back but these were charged from a fused take-off from the vehicle alternator. Being a radio...

Help Please. 24v warning light on and other stuff?

Just be careful in removing the radio battery charging system. As you know each alternator supplies its appropriate set of batteries, but the systems are not entirely independent. When the voltage on one set of batteries drops below 23v it suggests that it's alternator cannot cope so the ECU...

Military history - missing years on the Merlin archive

The original (French) meaning of ambulance was a mobile field hospital, patients that were moved some distance on wheels were carried in an ambulance wagon. The modern use of the term ambulance has been corrupted to mean an ambulance vehicle, I suspect the unit name 16 Field Ambulance leans...
