    Roof Lining Fix

Just a small tip, hindsite is a wonderfull thing! I stripped out the roofliner on my P38 this last summer, spend £100 on new material & the best hi-temp adheisive from Woolies, cleaned off ok, re-glued the new liner, BUT, I cut it to the edges of the molding as per original, BAD MOVE! Its...

    Yet another alarm thread, sorry...

Yes, it was the BECM that 'reset' itself after re-connection, maybe it will work for you, worth a try I would think! Also, I can disable the alarm & imobiliser on my 2.5 DSE via the Rovacom & the central-locking still works normally, I actually did for a few months simply to see what happened!!

What mileage is your Range Rover P38 on? (1994 to 2002)

135k, i'm second owner, got all bills etc. & NOTHING on engine, so I'm sure its original unit, not even had the head off!! '96' DSE However, replaced airbags, compressor, rad, gearbox ecu & headlining!!

    Yet another alarm thread, sorry...

I had similar problems about 5 years ago, tried everything already mentioned, sometimes I could get it working, others, not, also kept being locked-out, farted about with the key-codes, stripped all the locks/cleaned, latest reciever, found a supplier for a replacement ECU, & I was just about to...

I know they ain't quick.. but..

I,m not too sure the 2.5TD should be fitted with the auto box, they,re down on power to begin with, then you go & lose a bit more with the auto option. My 2.5 DSE needs to be driven at above 2000-2500 RPM to get any meaningful performance from it, & I regularly pull a 2500kg 4-wheel trailer all...

    Ugly!!!

Well guys, I'm sorry, but you're all WRONG!! That car is FANTASTIC! You've all totally missed the point, this fella has just invented the absolute worlds best ANTI-THEFT DEVICE for the P38!! Imagine this scenario, you park up outside a nighclub in Liverpool, come out several hours later, AND...

    dhse cooling/bleeding

I fitted a 17" Kenlow to my DSE about 3 years ago, best thing I ever did!! This was after it blew the top off the radiator whilst towing a large, heavy 2-axle trailer up a steep hill in summer in a traffic-jam!! The Kenlow was bought with an ajustable stat, plus 2, hi & lo over-ride switches...

    back to black

Don't use oils or 'back to black', its simply a silicone spray that only looks reasonable for a few days & as we all know, silicone is a sod to be rid of!! Get this from e-bay: Forever Black Dye Kit - Trim and Bumpers - A must have! on eBay (end time 12-Mar-11 18:45:02 GMT) Its a permenant ABS...

Too slow speed in speedo - P38

Only guessing here, but from my Rovacom, I can switch between mph & kph, so I wonder if yours has somehow changed from kph to mph?? If it were reading mph on a kph clockface, then it would show the needle at an apparent slower speed?? As for the hi-lo, I had a ecu burn out a few years back, &...

URGENT help needed... desprate elec probs

I'd try what DM68 said, several years ago, when I had battery problems, I had exactly as you, all sorts of weird going-on, & after phoning around, came accross a P38 'expert' who covinced me it was the BECM & he could supply a replacement for several hundred pounds!! So I duly disconnected it...

    door lock key code

I had the same problem several years ago when replacing the battery, EKA code wouldn't work, ended up removing the door lock (a bit fiddly) couldn't strip it as such, so I drenched it with WD40 whilst vigarously 'working' the lock, loads of old, mucky oil/gunge came out & a can later, it was...

    Low range issue

opps just re-read, you already did that, sorry. However, I never press the clutch, just come to a standstill, select neutral, then press the button, you might hear the 'clonk' from below & the message centre will indicate the ratio, if it still asks for neutral & you're already in, I suggest a...

    Low range issue

No, it always tells you to select neutral, otherwise, it wont let you select hi or lo, bung her in neutral, then select, same deal when going back, quite normal!

    New battery, new car!

Had my 2.5DSE for over 8 years now, been a great, enjoyable experience. Done most of the 'usual' RR jobs, airbags (4) compressor, discs/pads, blew a radiator, fitted a Kenlow 17" electric fan (fantastic now) & a new hi-lo ratio box ecu. A year into ownership I fitted a new battery, seemed ok for...

    rescue

Hiya Gav, hows tricks? I too 'saved' someone yesterday, up on my factory estate, a large artic became stuck with spinning tractor wheels in 18" snow, I hooked a strap from him to my towbar & 'oiked' him out quite easily, I don't think any of my wheels even slipped, felt rather chuffed with...

    MPG issue

I only keep my '96 2.5 DSE because its so GOOD on fuel.:D Whilst I liked the power of the V8s ( had 3 of them ) I didn't like the economy, or lack of!! Its coming up to 135K now, but I keep her in good fettle, change oils & filters regularly. Regular runs up & down the M1 with a ton or so...

    P38 saggy head/roof lining

I had the same problem with my Jag, it seems to be EXACTLY the same stuff, started to come away, then the lot dropped, eased it open & sprayed about 4 cans of adheisive, only for it to totally drop again the next hot day!! Ended up buying a new roll of genuine roof-lining & high-temp adheisive...
