What have you done to your Freelander today

So I've managed to source a replacement which will be arriving tomorrow. I will need to inspect it upon arrival but if it's okay I will be getting it shot blasted, and depending on the price I may get it thermal metal sprayed. There are a couple of firms local to me that do it. If that's too...

    Freelander 1 VCU testing

Like you say, you can't really see it in the video, but if they are using a section of the prop, presumably they have dismantled the uj and fabricated some means of welding it at 90 degrees.

    Freelander 1 VCU testing

Reviving an old thread here. I've just removed my prop as the vcu was tightening up somewhat and a bearing has gone. A good friend of mine scrapped his FL1 a year or so ago but kept a load of bits, which he is kindly either donating to me or selling cheaply. Anyway, he has a prop and claims that...

It's been a week for calipers then. Just had the same with my NS one!

What have you done to your Freelander today

Just about managed it okay with some extra axle stands borrowed from a neighbour. When I did it some years ago I managed to remove and refit on my own and recall that the removal was okay but refitting was a bit awkward on my lonesome. *edit* I do have one little job I really could do with your...

FL1 TD4 Auto - Transmission whine after cold start - SOLVED

So the whine is still present from time to time after the car has stood over night. Today I've whipped off the prop so will see if that has changed things tomorrow morning. The more I think about it though I'm wondering about the auto box fluid level. My gut feeling is that it will still have...

Removed the prop with a tight VCU and one duff bearing, in readiness for replacements in the next few weeks.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Had the simultaneous delight of knocking another job off the list with a replacement front caliper fitted making the world of difference, only to discover another job to add to the list. LH driveshaft inside boot split. Most annoying given that it is a GKN shaft that is less than two years old...

For Sale Freelander 2004 facelift HSE Parts

HI Andy, I note you say the car is rotted, but is there any chance the rear subframe is any good? I'm not too woried about surface corrosion as I'll get it shot blasted and painted, but it would need to be solid.

Buffeting wind noise with 1 window open

Yep, every car I've ever had does it. Cracking open any one of the other windows just a smidge is usually enough to stop it.

I shall do the rear arms too, and probably with poly bushes too. My diff and hubs will stay as is though. I polyed the diff front mount a few years ago.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I think powder coating for the spare wheel carrier is a good option, but I wouldn't be overly keen for it on the subframe as its more likely to get scratched or damaged and then you can end up with unseen corrosion, and it's difficult to repair damage satisfactorily. What state was that subframe...
