Still great work! I was wondering about the change from a toggle switch to the knob...?

I love the nifty install in the ash tray. You've done some really well thought out things with this conversion.

    VCU Torque test results

    Retest done today. Its a bit warmer than the last test, and unfortunately I couldn't do it after the car had stood overnight. Had to do school run first thing. The car had stood for two hours. 1. 46s 2. 33s 3. 32s 4. 28s 5. 28s 6. 25s 7. 27s 8. 28s 9. 28s 10. 27s 11. 25s 12. 27s 13. 25s 14. 25s...

FL1 TD4. Engine oil! not which this time :))

I've been using this for years. Click and collect, same day usually. https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/triple-qx-fully-syn-engine-oil-5w-40-a3-b4-5ltr-521776031

What have you done to your Freelander today

Yep. That's the answer for sure. Also, I've found a chap in Liskeard breaking three vehicles. I've messaged him to see if he has a subframe and that I can collect, but so far, radio silence. I'm sure I'll be able to get one at some point from somewhere mind. I visited the local breakers yard but...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Well, since my post I've done more investigating. You were quite right about not being able to weld them for MOTs. I've found someone doing powder coated ones for £375, but I don't want to go down that route as my experience of powder coating is that once damaged (or not) moisture behind the...

Hankook, Kumho, Vredestein, or Yokohama summer 16"s?

I'd agree with this. They've been fantastic on mine

I don't think it'll make a difference either, but it'll add to the discussion.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I've had a thorough inspection of the rear subframe this evening. The rest of it is rock sold, with only minor surface corrosion in other areas. This may change my approach.

    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

You see that this vehicle knows it's still a freelander. You've got the joy achieved when feeling heat after sorting a TD4 stat out.

I might give it another go then, before condemming the VCU and whipping off the prop this weekend.

FL1 TD4 Auto - Transmission whine after cold start - SOLVED

So with a slightly tightening VCU I'm wondering if that is the reason for this issue. I shall be taking the prop off this weekend so will see if that makes a difference, although having said that, the car hasn't made the noise for a few days now.

    VCU Torque test results

I'd be interested on the consensus on this. I've always done the test forwards but on this occasion I was avoiding the bodywork with the weights and as I was parked on a bit of a slope I needed the extra ground clearance to get to horizontal.

Thanks Ali. I'll check out postage costs first. Any idea of the approx weight at all?

    VCU Torque test results

Suits you Sir. :p Either way, I think it's time to prep for replacement. I don't think it's mega urgent, but It's now on the list of jobs to do in the coming months.

    VCU Torque test results

Interesting point. I'd not thought of that. In previous tests I've always used a length of box section steel but that in itself is quite heavy. I wanted to do the test with something lighter to get the results more accurate. The broom handle was all I had to hand and I was slightly concerned it...
