OK, had a new diff fitted and it still whinned like a bast##rd, so the garage did various tests and is 100% certain it is the tyres, I said "Ok, I don't mind putting some tyres on but if it still does it are you gonna pay for them?", he said "Yes"... so now looking for some good and quite tyres...

Took it to local tyre dealer and he said that although the tyres are cheapies they have very good wear patterns and won't be causing the noise. Then took it to the garage I bought it from and the mechanic jumped in and we went for a listen, he thinks it is the diff and suggested an oil change...

Just went out in the cold and dark and got underneath, all looks and feels ok. I've only had this FL a few weeks, the one before I had for 4 weeks before it went back... getting a bit pi##ed off now... I guess I'll have to talk to the garage that I got it from... again....

Ta for the suggestion, done that and front and rear are coming in at approx 655mm so no big differences there.

Hi A whining noise has recently started from the back of my FL1, starts about 65Mph and gets worse at 70, if I gas it it gets louder, if I ease off it quietens down and if I drop the clutch it also quietens down so I don't think it is tyres. I have Infinity inf-100's on the rear. Any ideas?

You can use them for main beam you just wont be able to flash anyone due to the warm up time (1-2 secs) as I have both done on my bike. Who/where do you get yours from?

I think it about halves the engine warm up time and after a few mins you should start to get warmish air into the cab.

I am thinking about doing the same to my TD4 '05 SE as I fitted one to my bike (BMW GS1200 Adv) and love it. Does the dip beam now reduce the need for main beam as much? as I found on my bike I needed to use main about 1/2 as much (1/2 less) with a HID fitted to the dip due to the extra light...

Interesting stuff on the breather, where is it located -back front, left right? I want to see if it looks newish or maybe I will change it just to be on the safe side.
