Concrete crusher got my keys and fob ! 2006 110.

I just renewed my insurance and noticed it covers replacement keys but I never know whether it's worth claiming for that sort of thing as you will probably have a higher premium next year because of it.

    90 Fuel Tank Petrol NRC9225

There are some cheap 3 legged gadgets on FleaBay. Look for Fuel Sender Tool. No idea how good they are. I have managed to get them out in the past with a punch and hammer. Better if you have a friend working on another lug at the same time.

    TD5 Defender 110 Yr 2000 wiring question.

Can anyone tell me what the 8 way Lucar connector block is for with the following colours? Black Red Red / Yellow Blue / Yellow. It's behind the dash alongside the radio connectors for power and speakers. Thank you.

    Interior illumination ??

I have Luminoodle or Chinese copy of it along the tops of the sides. Shines on the roof and gives a nice soft light. You can also get a dimmer for it.

    keeps blowin

Disconnect wire from fuel gauge then wire a 12v bulb across where the fuse should be. If bulb lights up you have a short to earth in your wiring loom and you need to run in a replacement wire. If not, it looks like a problem with the gauge.

    TD5 110 CSW noise reduction?

Well worth doing what you can to get a drop of 2 or 3 dB. It doesn't sound like much but a drop of 3dB halves the power level or doubles the amount of time it takes for noise to damage your hearing.

    Radio code help

If it's that easy it's not much of a theft deterrent. I think your best bet is getting code from main dealer

    Which Jump Starter to have

Just had to use my Autowit supercap starter for the first time on the TD5. I had left the lights on and the starter would only just turn the engine over. Took a couple of minutes to charge up then engine spun quickly and started straight away. The super capacitor jump starters won't be much...

    Electrical Gremlins

Put a separate voltmeter directly across the battery and compare to dashboard voltmeter. If battery voltage stays higher then you have high resistance somewhere.

    Which Jump Starter to have

As mentioned earlier - I watched the review and bought the Audew. It was brilliant. Spun the engine faster than the vehicle battery and would start a car with completely flat battery. I used it a couple of times in the first week I had it but next time I came to use it - nothing. No way of...

    Which Jump Starter to have

Horses for courses and not for everyone. They are definitely not the be all and end all but I think they have a place. I would spend my cash on a decent set of 6 metre jump leads long before any jump start pack but I don't regret buying the Noco I have. It all depends if you can park on your...

Yup. You are not missing anything.

    Which Jump Starter to have

There's quite an extensive discussion of this on Anything Goes. I have a Noco GB40 that works ok but not brilliant. Others report they are really good. My suspicion is that they vary in quality a bit for some reason. I had an Audew unit that worked brilliantly a couple of times but failed...

    ABS Unit - 3 amigos - can't be repaired - water ingress

I had a problem with the ECU pump on my Mercedes Sprinter where it was very occasionally drawing in air. Sent it off to ECU testing. It was pronounced beyond repair. I had to ask several times for the engineer's report but finally was told that the problem was water ingress. They offered to...

    Jump Starter

Useful info for anyone who isn't up to date with jump starter technology. There are two very different types of small jump starter available now. The first is a battery pack using Lithium Ion batteries such as the Noco GB40. They seem to work well but I wasn't nearly as impressed with the...

    Radio interference

Use a multimeter to check continuity from aerial plug pin to main part of aerial and from outer of plug to bodywork. There needs to be a good connection between the aerial outer and the bodywork.

    P38A Jump starter boosters

Fair point well made, but I had an intermittent issue with something flattening the van battery and didn't want to cart around a full size battery or jump pack. It would take a lot of grease and a long run up to get your tractor battery into the glove compartment and it might be tricky getting...

    P38A Jump starter boosters

I thought I would revive this thread to report on a couple of small jump start packs I have bought. The first one I got was a Noco GB40. It sort of works. Seems nicely built and got a diesel Sprinter with a dead battery moving again, but I think it was only just. I wanted another unit for my...

Matching ignition and door lock upgrade

I did this upgrade on a Y2000 TD5 Defender. There were 2 kits available. I went for the one with longer key and more lock pins. New ignition barrel and side door lock barrels were straight swap, but new rear door lock was required that I think cost an extra £35 or so. Top tip. Leave the door...

    Replacement windscreen on TD5 110

I had been considering replacing cracked 110 windscreen myself. Insurance excess £250. Autoglass quote was about £210 for glass and replacement rubber fitted so I had to pay the full amount. I decided on Autoglass. I got an appointment within a couple of days. Their fitter got the screen in...
