That is what I do every time I switch it off at the moment, hence fitting the master cut-off switch. Battery holds charge fine when its not connected to the car. Cheers

Ok, finally had some time during daylight to investigate further. Set the multimeter to 200mA (wired in series from battery) and I'm getting a drop of 0.88. Removing the 1st fuse (R/H dipped beam) drops this to 0.86, but it drops no further even when all the fuses and relays are removed...

New battery fitted, old battery on charge, will have it drop-tested in the week. New one isn't showing any amp loss either, will wait and see tomorrow morning if it fails to start.

Ah, as there's no air filter fitted (another bodge to sort.... :mad2::censored: ) that'll explain why it just sits to one side of the gearbox. Going to locate a new one on the driver's side of the engine bay, need to buy some silicone hose before I do though.

****sticks. Tried to start the 90 this morning and the battery was almost completely flat. It was given a 12hr charge yesterday, fired up car once to check alternator wiring was fixed, then all switched off. Nothing was left on overnight. Bollocks.

Whole alternator is new so it shouldn't need replacement!

I will keep checking, however the battery had also just come off a full 12hr charge indoors so I wonder if that skewed the reading slightly. Where is the regulator?
