De Rattle that Cat with self tappers ?

Have the cat rattle I'm afraid. Its on LPG so the need for cats is not high priority. I did read on here somewhere that you can use self tappers to stop the rattle. Can anyone confirm this and where on the cat is best pinned and what size of tappers

Cam run in proceedure v8 thor

All done and purrs. Did the 15 minutes at 2000 revs. Had a small leak of water from the rear but now plugged. What happens when you buy a new car. Sit in the car on the for court and Rev for 20 mins before you buy ?

    V8 4.0 coolant loss

You can go through a load of problems that MAYBE this or THAT, but taking the heads off and having a look will draw to a conclusion. You could do a compression test first as this will tell you where to look when they are off.

4.6 removing a stuck front timing cover...

Now the fun starts. If your taking the cam out here is a tip in putting it back. Screw the cam locking bolt in the end and clamp a pair of mole grips tight on the bolt end. This will give you fiddle power to get the can in the last bearing shell in the end.

Cam run in proceedure v8 thor

Thanks. I think i'm going to chuck in some extra lube in with the oil so not to take chances. Already has Joe Gibbs building grease on all thing rubbing . Good article from Castor on V8 builds Just goes to show even the top builders get it wrong now and again. My last cam had 2...

Cam run in proceedure v8 thor

Just about there with my new cam rebuild with loads of other new gear thrown in to make sure it's a kitten purr. Cam lobes covered in cam grease. Lifters soaked for three days. What's the official run in proceedure on first start up. It's difficult to keep the coolant topped up whilst...

    cam shaft kit

That's a britpart cam as mine came like that. The Land Rover cam cam with shiney lobes covered in a hard grease. Don't use them Two lobes totally flattened and another total strip down. Yes I did lube them and yes I sat for 10 mins at 2500 revs on startup

How do I get the crankshaft pulley bolt off?

You need to take the sump off to get the front cover off. Block of 3x2 between crack and side wall does the trick and works a treat. Steady pressure on a breaker bar with a 24mm socket. Job done. Just put my cover back on so will be tightening it up tomorrow

    cam shaft kit

Looks like the rimmer bro is a Britpart cam as the lobes are black like the one that's chewed up I've just replaced. I'd go with the one on the bay if you can identify where the cams from

Big Ends V8 engine in car ?

Thanks for the off but will make one myself as i'm doing it tomorrow. Easy construction. Might even make out of wood !!!!! Will post a photo if it works If they made Stonehenge and pyramids with wood then I don't think a rear bearing cap will be too much hassle

Big Ends V8 engine in car ?

Saintv8 guide in how to section very good. The 80deg turn on all the bolts is a pain especially if your on your back. I still have to strip out the starter motor and the drivers side engine mount to get to all the cross bolts. Grrrrrrr

Hmmm head gasket trouble it's not all clear cut

Have just about dismantled the whole of the engine. New shells at the bottom and a second new cam going in. Yesterday I managed to get the old new cam out. 2 lobes had disappeared on the exhaust on the passenger bank. So not able to exhaust , so the result was a burnt gasket ring...

Big Ends V8 engine in car ?

I've just about stripped the engine down to basics to replace cam and head gaskets. All the valve gear is being replaced at the same time so hopefully no rattle from my block when its all back together. The sump is off and I have new big ends and the bolts. Is it possible to do a good job...
