Thats what i am doing, i went against my gut feeling and fitted a 200tdi in a series 3, have done a couple before when they where popular but can,t stand it to noisy and rattley, so going for petrol at the moment looks like a bog standard 21/4 i think they are a good engine

I agree with totott, you must have the bleed nipple at the top, so feed in down to the bottom and the return to top cylinder otherwise air gets trapped at top

I have done three series 3's, with 200tdi's, finished one recently, and wish i had gone with my gut feeling and put a stadard petrol engine in, its a far better drive and i usually get the heads fitted with hardened valve seats, anyway i am toying with the idea of taking the 200 tdi out again...

Carb,s still on, starter moters with it, exhaust manifold, water pump, clutch and flywheel, I took it out of a series 3 I bought for spares so don’t know when last run, I can,t get it to shift had a 16 inch stilsons with pipe on

Got a land rover 6 cylinder engine surplus to requirements, just took it out of a series 3 lwb, seems to be seized, so could be usefull for parts, just want a few beer tokens, it will go for scrap if no interest THIS ENGINE IS NOW SOLD

Hi again Steve, i just found it a d i have viewed it, but it doesn't help me, problem i have got is the regulater had been removed before i got it, and i am left with a bunch of wires and there is no colour coding, its going to be a nightmare

thanks Rob, do you know what the two spades on the origanal starter solenoid ( push one ) are for, i thought they are the power to the fuse box etc, dont know havn't tried them yet, thanks Pete
