Disco 2 low ball joint split covers for MOT

To get more access to the caliper bolts on passenger side by turning the steering wheel to the most right, I found the steering was moving when undoing the bolts. I disconnected the driver side rod track. I thought power steering won't move, is there a way to prevent steering from moving?

Disco 2 low ball joint split covers for MOT

Good idea! When I separated the knuckle, it was hard to loose its lower part. I tried to heat it up, then cool down with cold water immediately, metal expansion and contraction can help.

Finally I need to detach knuckle from axle, after I undid lower ball joint nut, I saw a hex on knuckle, do I have to unscrew this, or it is part of the knuckle? See picture. Can someone recommend tools to move out the knuckle and the both ball joints, it seems I don’t need to detach the ball...

Disco 2 low ball joint split covers for MOT

I saw this link http://www.discovery2.co.uk/brakes.html mentioned front caliper bolt size is 19mm 12-point, but when I tried it, it seems a bit small, I have 2004 landy, should it be 21mm or AF size for the latest td5?

Disco 2 D2 td5 ACE amber warning light

Recently I got ACE amber warning light on in normal drive, and after I restarted engine it was gone. Last time happened a few months ago. Nanocom indicates "Fault 33--06 direction control valve fault", I changed ACE fluid and filter 4-5 years ago, should I change them again or leave them, or ACE...

Disco 2 discovery td5 rear hub leaking

When I removed the hub, I should have jacked up it higher than other side, otherwise the lubricant would not have flew out along the shaft. I don’t see some one mentioned it. Maybe lubricant is contained in ball housing for 1.6L capacity. I saw some part of O-ring was flat or came off the hub...

Disco 2 discovery td5 rear hub leaking

Yes sierraferry. I just blew, it seems ok. I also checked two years ago. I have slided out the shaft, and looked into axle, I can see diff gears and slide the shaft back, twist it, it is tight, it seems engaged. I have lost 100-200 ml lubricant. I changed the lubricant two years ago, it seems...

Disco 2 discovery td5 rear hub leaking

I have slided out the hub, but it looks like axle leaking? Because it is not dry as someone’s. Or is it caused by shaft drive shift for pulling the hub?
