Feel for you buddy. My local specialist lent me a Td5 discovery ECU. It’s plug and play. No coding needed. But Fuel and temp gauges read backwards.

How on earth does it get in there between the roof and the head liner? First time i slow down in the morning it runs forward and pours out of the front of the head liner each side.

I had this a couple of years ago. After throwing a heap of time and money at it it turned out to be the ecu. If you can borrow one to swap out you'll know straight away if thats your problem..

UPDATE. I ended up with the fan removed and most of the rad blocked off, still i couldnt get any heat. New thermostat fitted now and its back to how it should be.

Update. All 4 calipers had the inner pistons seized solid. Someone had forced the pistons back without wiper seals when they put new pads in, and threy just stayed there... Great. all sorted now :-)

Job done on the rear, all new parts. Much better! Front next.... But here's whats worrying me this morning. The old pads had shims attached, the new didn't so I put them in without. Was that correct?

Hi. I did a lot of searching on this. and checking out other peoples lights. cheap LED units didn't seem great on dip, still dazzling people. Decent dip being my priority as i have to dodge deer & ponies in the new foreest I'm afraid i went for crystal lenses, uprated wiring harness and illegal...

Do it. Big, smelly, damp, cold, uncomfortable, noisy and those are some of its better points. I'm now in a position where I could have any car I like and it turns out a dented TD5 makes me happiest. You can always sell it if it's not for you.

My 2004 110 DC does everything. 50 mile daily commute, dump runs, dog transporter in the forest, motorway trips to visit the kids, the lot. But I have to say the brakes are awful. Really wooden. I checked the servo is working. I freed up the pistons in the rear but it was all so corroded i think...

At the weekend I took mine around the Thruxton 4x4 course then down the motorway. The contrast is amazing really!

A bit of feedback. I fitted crystal lenses, osram rally 100w bulbs and a direct loom. what a difference! Great distance and decent cut off on dip which was my priority. I'm not dazzling anyone and I can see those pesky animals in. time now. Thanks guys.

My TD5 heater is taking a while to warm up (5 miles). I thought a new thermostat is all that's needs. So why do I see rad muffs advertised for defenders? Surely if the stat works ok the rad is bypassed until it reaches temperature? or am I missing something here.

Thanks Zaphod. Just fitted Wipac crystal lenses and replaced the 100w Chinese bulbs with good quality 60/55w bulbs. What a difference! next stop is the direct harness and sram night breakers. Incidentally, I passed a defender with led headlights tonight. It was dazzling me and I'm not sure it...
