Should a 1964 series 2 have brake lights!?

I think I misspoke. If your brake light switch is at the top of the pedal under the dash, that's a different affair than I described. I think you do still need to be careful with the contacts when turning or adjusting the switch, but the switch at the pedal under the dash is easier to adjust...

    Series 3 Grind on over-run?

Newbie here asking, is overrun okay to slow down the vehicle rather than using brakes when coming towards a stop sign and shifting down from 4th to 3rd? I try not to be excessive with this, but it seems to feel okay to let the car slow using the gears this way, rather than throwing it into...

    Windows

On this topic... I do have the sliding windows. I've been looking all over for that little round "boss" for the window catch on the sliding rear windows (for the hard top tropical roof). They don't make them anymore, and so super difficult to find. Does anyone know where I can get one of these...

Series III brake light switch problem

Carlos - thanks. Great job. So I got my Land-Rover-style set up of the same arrangement (see picture), and tested the size and fitting yesterday (without removing the bolts). Blackburn and you are correct. The standard arrangement will not allow the brake switch button to reach the brake pedal...

Should a 1964 series 2 have brake lights!?

I've just been through this process. When you get the new switch, you have to be very careful when turning it in and out to make the adjustment. You screw it in deeper and the brake lights stay on. You unscrew it, and the brake lights do not come on at all. There is the sweet spot in the middle...

Series III brake light switch problem

Oh, interesting and my apologies. Looks like I am in for some challenges when I receive the one from Ebay... Thanks for explaining. I'll keep you advised as to my results. So far, I've only got the one working above the pedal box under the bonnet. Thanks again, and sorry if I misled anyone. Mike

Series III brake light switch problem

Yes, Carlos - Exactly. The one I'm putting on as my alternate is like that, except made for Series Land Rover brake pedal bolts on the bottom of the dash. Also ordered from EBAY, and the set up is same as you say. I think it will be fun installing it, and having it as a back up, I'll leave the...

    Series 2 2 issues... both a pain... Can't drive

Seems obvious but this happened to me. Panic set in, and then I tried this. Clutch in, push the Red low Range lever all the way forward. Sometimes it pops into Neutral and then car won't go into normal gear.

Series III brake light switch problem

Okay - installed the under-bonnet one on top of the brake pedal box over the weekend. I lucked out. It works perfectly. Yes, a hair thin adjustment is needed. You have to be careful with taking the leads on and off as you turn the switch to adjust because I think that's what weakens the switch...

    steering play?

Thanks, all. This is a gold mine of information. Now I know where to start. I've got this very problem of play, and now I see a course of action. Thank you! Mike

Series III brake light switch problem

Thanks, all! I just ordered another one, because last night I noticed flickering when I was making those minute adjustments. So, taking your comments, I'm assuming the switch needs to be replaced. There is an original stock one I can get for like USD78, but I'll hold off on that and see if...

Best way to restore my 1967 series 2a

Hi Thunderstruck - Just opinion here - not really advice per se. I recently got a '70 Series IIA, and for me I am not thinking about resale because I love the car so much. Were I to buy a Rover and re-sell it - sort of flip the car, I think people do care about staying close to original too...

Series III brake light switch problem

I have the same problem. Devil of a time adjusting the super sensitive switch (pedal box under the bonnet). Slight turn and the brake lights won't come on when I press the pedal. Slight turn the other way and they stay on when I don't even press the pedal. Slight turn in the middle, they come...

    Series 3 Protecting Unfused Circuits

These look better, I think. Anyway - you can easily find in-line fuse holders. https://amzn.to/2A0JvwI Here's what I ordered from Radio Shack. https://www.radioshack.com/products/radioshack-10-amp-inline-fuse-holder-for-1-x-fuses Mike

    Series 3 Protecting Unfused Circuits

I just ordered a couple of in-line fuses holders myself, and my plan was to put them behind the dash somewhere, and in line with my windshield washer which I need to re-install. I am replacing the dash inspection sockets, believe it or not. I live in Virginia, so I ordered these from Radio...

    Series 2 restoration busy week

Great work, Phil - Question - when doing the brakes, do you run two lines to the front and two lines to the back? Some older diagrams show one line to the left front, and three lines to the rest of the wheels from a booster. Thanks! Mike

Steering Locks - do you use them?

Zoner - Yes - this one seems best for steering wheel. Actually clamps to the wheel itself rather than hooks around it. -Mike

Steering Locks - do you use them?

I bought "The Club" which is a big red bar, but I had to get the large size for trucks. Even this doesn't fit the big Series steering wheel perfectly, and can be maneuvered off. For me (in USA) it's just a deterrent for overnight parking. You guys have some serious security concerns, though...
