    Why did you....?

I needed a 4x4 for my boat, found a 2001 td4 with 6 months mot for £250 which was a bit rough body wise, it is great for the boat and the wife and kids use it when their cars are of the road, ive brought/sold/broken 11 freelanders in 4 years all under £300 each, ive still got 2 now, I think they...

    Fl 2 Manual or auto?

I have a boat which weighs 1250kg, I prefer the manual because you can rev the engine and dump the clutch if you are in a sticky situation, also when stuck in soft sand you can rock back and forward in first/rev quicker than in the auto to get out of the ruts, just my opinion but my fl1 td4 has...

    Advice needed

Yes loads of corrosion usually, I’ve not had any bolts sheer off yet, probably due to steel bolts in monkey metal aluminium, you only need a few turns of the bolt before the window will pull out of the clamps

    Advice needed

Even with the tailgate glass fully up you can get a 10mm spanner on the “clamp” bolts that hold the glass in the holders, you won’t be able to see them but will feel the spanner locate onto the bolt head

    Larger tyres on the back

need to get my spare freelander up and running, I have a few spare wheels but not a set of 4 matching tyres, so as you should put your new tyres on the rear to prevent windup, would it be ok to put a pair of bigger profile tyres on the rear, my thinking is that there would be no windup just a...

    AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAULT

If it helps, I changed my duty solenoid a little while ago and its not too difficult. The solenoid was £45 from a company in southampton, I removed the front bumper, dropped the gearbox oil, a couple of brakets in front of the cover plate, and then the cover plate. swapped solenoid, used a good...

    Rear Door wont open

The top part of the rear door card has catches that drop down into slots for want of a better description, i literally just put a bent screwdriver (hook shape) under the top right corner and lifted it up the half inch to get it out of the locating slots, move across until all the top edge is...

    Rear Door wont open

Hi Guys, 2003 td4 3 door freelander that i cant open the rear door, the window goes up and down, when you pull the rear door handle switch the window drops for a couple of seconds but the boot doesnt open, so im guessing that the door solenoid is faulty, can you open the lock mechanism from...

    Body change in 2003?

Hope someone can clarify this for me as I assumed all mk1 freelanders had the same rear door, mine is a 2003, when I asked the auto breakers if they had a rear door they said I would have to check if it fitted as the changed the body panels that year? Anybody confirm or deny this for me tia
