    stopped by the police

I get stopped about once a month around Westminster under the suspicion of being a terrorist. I suspect that modern terrorists have moved on in the last few years and now sit in the back of mint LSEs in a suit!!!!!! What is interesting is the paperwork that they fill out. It is...

    2 doors

That makes sense. One I have my eye on has used a 1980 donor for some replacement panels about 10 years ago. I have also thought about buying a CSK and gutting it but to be honest most of them are just too rotten and for the hassle it makes more sence to get a pre 72 in reasonable shape...

;) I will need a vehicle that is as robust as possible and if the only exterior difference is a rear wiper (which I guess could be removed and covered up?) and different tail lights (which could be sourced over time and replaced) then a 72 with younger rear panel parts isn't theend of the world.

    New seats

Thanks, but I'm also looking for a full set of leather seats from a 3 door, so with folding front seats. Do you, or anyone, know if it is correct that the folding seats in the Disco 2 had the option to be electric? i.e. press a button and it folds and moves forward. Someone told me they did...

    Faults with my RR-C

In this weather the tow hitch is used to keep those traveling too close behind you off your bodywork. On my old Rangie, last inter this device was used 3 times by people looking to slow down more quickly. They were very grateful, so much so that one chap let me drive away with his grill.

No, the metal shell that surrounds the tailgate from the doors back, the rear part of the body. Apparently it is a separate part and several 72 cars have had 80s rear shells fitted in replacement.

Is that some kind of hint? ;) Thanks for the heads up.

    2 doors

No, I'm in the hunt for a good example. Several that I've seen in recent months have had rear ends from 80s 2 doors bolted on. I was wondering if the rear ends from the 80s 2 doors were actually different as they look identical to me.

    New seats

Hi, Can anyone point me in the direction of somewhere where you can buy new Disco 2 seat sets? Of if there is a business which specialises in refurbs. I've been checking breakers on Ebay but wondering if there are any other sources. TIA.

    2 doors

Well, neither did I ;) Maybe they don't but it's what I've been told. When you say different wings, do you mean between a 2 door and a 4 door, or 2 doors between the different eras?
  14. Horse_Apple

    2 doors

Not the tailgate, the rear body shell part that is fixed by bolting. So I guess, thewhole rear shell section. They look identical, was wondering if they were though.

    2 doors

Some of the 70s ones appear to have 80s back ends. They look like they just bolt on and look identical but was wondering if they were ultimately the same or not.

What are the big differences between an early 70s 2 door and an early 80s one, re panels etc? TIA

Poor economy from a V8 RRC...

It would depend on the load on the alternator. Certainly on mine the massively strong bulbs and the comedy ICE system mean that 5 mpg could be optomistic when commuting in winter ;) Anyway, ditched the clumsy Overfinch ECU for something more modern and now get 7 mpg round Town ;)

Poor economy from a V8 RRC...

I suspect economy this time of year gets hit anyway due to running with lights, heating etc etc. 11 on a run averaging 30-50 doesn't seem too much of a shocker if you were running all the goodies as well.

RRC – seriously impressive in the snow!

Smart car has to be pretty good in the snow. Nice thin tyres, easy to push, narrow so can get round stranded cars in the road. And you wouldn't think twice about setting fire to it to keep you warm if you got stuck ;)

    Looking for a Classic

One went for over £40k last year and an Overfinch has just been sold for £37k. There is clearly a market at this level and has been for a couple of years. It's an iconic car and the number of mint condition unfettled ones are becoming few and far between, plus, they are growing in popularity.
