Today I shall pull the starter and solenoid to have a bench test.... Should be fun.
But first to map out what to do with this jigsaw puzzle:
Oh yeah, almost finished the dash:
@norseman Thanks for the detail, I'll have a look in the morning.... Odd about the cap as I can twist it a good 5deg in each direction which can't be good. :-(
Now it does nothing...
The key switch puts power to the coil and solenoid at the appropriate times, and there's 12.8v to the solenoid direct from the battery.... but no clunk, and no whirrrrrrr
Going to take everything back to basics.:(
Door latches fitted to newly welded and painted box-section... transmission tunnel now boxed in... transfer case H/L lever reinstated... brakes bled.
Now I can't get the damn lump to start! Anyone know any useful/appropriate prayers?
My project car is running a 3.5L V8, with zenith carbs, out of an old Rover SD1 - same as the pre '86 Range Rover Classic.... To make things difficult in the past someone fitted a Mallory distributor ( not the electronic version ).
Does anyone have any knowledge of the Mallory, like which...
I've built a column shroud around a Defender switch set ( indicators and wipers ), and I've a couple of console boxes from RS Components for the remaining guages, warning lights and switches...
I've a set of 5 black steel Rostyle rims taking up garage space, free to a good home.
Ok condition, I'd be using then if they fitted a D2, but they don't.... RRC, D1, Defender, etc
Can deliver if you're in Cheshire, or Manchester/Liverpool area.
Not posted anything in a while.... So here's a shot of the transmission tunnel coming together:
Next to fabricate some sort of mount for the Speedo, Tach and assorted guages....
I've got a pair of blade fuse boxes that shows a red LED if the fuse blows:

Alas not waterproof. :-(
OK folks, update time....
Front suspension lift in, with the incorrect/correct 'Defender' socks, +2 pipes and adjusted spring retainers in place:
And I've cut the old latch retainer plates off the frame, and prepped the new box-section steel to be bolted and welded in place:
I've also...
