    Gandini 4x4 guides to Morocco

Anyone got any we could borrow or know where they're for sale in the UK? Heading for The Mauritanian border soon via anywhere we can get decent off-road routes through. Done most of the Chris Scott routes now so looking for something new. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

    North coast 500

Good luck - the best time of year to do it (no, or very few, midgies!).

    What other seats?

Volvo S60 but I think they're pretty standard for most models. Leather, heated, fancy adjustments. Downside - quite thick seat squab so take up a bit more room than Defender seats. Really comfortable though.

    Roof tent advice?

Yes - the set-up you've shown is the "standard way" off the side and I see you've removed the side bar on the "fold out" side. I'd be a bit careful that the ladder is set correctly to support the weight when the tent's occupied. The tension in the structure is capable of doing this when new, but...

    Roof tent advice?

I believe the OP wants to keep his LR rack. If he hadn't already got one, I'd agree with the roof bar option - much cheaper and you can mount the tent on the bars before having to get the whole lot onto the roof. The biggest pain I find with mine is fixing it to the rack - there's not enough...

    Roof tent advice?

At 140cm your rack is wider than my Front Runner and I have no problem putting a roof tent on it. Most tents are about 120cm wide at the "narrow dimension" and quite often have a more-or-less square footprint so you can mount them to open off the side or the fore-aft direction. The proviso with...

Has anyone/group done Morocco in the last twelve months?

Unfortunately not - work got in the way of the critical dates. We're going to do another off-road odyssey to Mauritania in April and have another try at the rally next year.

The weather or the oil? Congratulations - have fun playing with it.

    Collected my new overland vehicle

That really looks good, you must be very pleased.... but a bit bright and shiny for an Exped truck...are you going to muddy it up a bit? ;)

    Expedition advice.

Agree with wot he ^ said, but with two provisos: 1. that if you'll be a solo vehicle, some carefully-researched spares and knowledge of how to use them would do no harm. A standard vehicle is perfectly capable. and 2. As for what you consider "remote", that's very subjective but our experience...

    Td5 and lifting it up!

    Oh dear....I'll get me coat!

    Piant job.

What happens if you blast it with a pressure washer? My early attempts at spraying looked just like your pics after a while and were for the same reasons as everyone has said. Ignorance in my case, but the effect was the same and a pressure wash could lift the paint off in sheets. I've learnt...

    Td5 and lifting it up!

Yep - I wasn't very clear on that...I was thinking more of how high above the ground the OP wanted his shooting platform! A few extra inches can make all the difference. Or so I'm told....:(

    Td5 and lifting it up!

Ah! So any arguments about the technical implications are wasted, then. It's how it looks, not how it performs?

    Anti-Rattle Pins.. cheap fix

Can I ask what was the part number on the pin kit? I ordered one recently and the pins were too short:

    Td5 and lifting it up!

...and it isn't just the shocks/springs combo either. You'll probably need to consider cranked trailing arms, bigger bump stops and maybe even castor-corrected arms as well. It all adds up to a fair wedge and you might not get a good/worthwhile result. I'd certainly heed Mikescuba's advice and...

    TD5 rear half shafts

I could be wrong, but when Paddocks say that, they really mean Sh*tpart. Might be a good idea to call them and confirm. I'd agree with "lightning" - fit the new drive members and as long as the shaft splines are OK, and they probably are as the DMs are softer (it would seem), then they are...

    taking off lift kit.

A bit more than £40, I think, but whatever it costs it might be worth it. Can you give me a breakdown of your costing? I'd be interested in how to replace what I have for that money.
